#### **Taylor Swift, pop music superstar, has worn many incredible gowns throughout her storied career, including some fabulous white dresses. Inspired by the anticipation, TWDettes are thrilled to share their favorite looks for the “American Royal Wedding.”**

The wedding of Taylor Swift to Travis Kelce is one of the most anticipated celebrity weddings of, well, ever. Fans and critics alike cannot help but discuss this Millennial icon’s upcoming marriage and speculate on when, or where, or what she’ll be wearing. Here at TWD, we are just as eager as anyone to find out which looks this fashionista will be wearing when she ties the knot. In the meantime, we selected a few spectacular Swift-inspired bridal looks ourselves!

Romance, drama, spectacle, these looks embrace it all! Which one of these Swift-inspired looks speaks to you?

##### **The Classic **

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Allyson-1.avif)

[Allyson](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/allyson/) is a study in perfect simplicity. The Mikado is the ideal fabric for this regal ballgown, which visually echoes the Vivian Westwood gown Taylor wore during her *TTPD* set. The texture, luster, and richness of the fabric give the dress instant gravitas. The square neck, the elegant visible seams, the Basque waist, the perfect row of buttons, the billowing full skirt, each contribute to an overall effect of high glamour. Each trendy element is pared down to its essence, creating a gown that is as relevant on the stage of a stadium tour as on an Old Hollywood red carpet. This gown has presence.

For the bride who knows what she wants, knows how to get it, and isn’t afraid to make it happen.

##### **The Sheer Moment **

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Felicity.avif)

Sleek but lush, sexy but sweet, [Felicity](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/felicity/) is the whole package! The fitted silhouette hugs every curve with graphic, scrolling lace. Bold enough to feel theatrical, the sheer bodice opening up an illusion back is breathtaking with just enough intricate detail to feel fearlessly chic. The full arm sleeves dissipate into illusion before reaching the shoulder, emphasizing the daring V of the plunging sweetheart neckline. This is a gown that draws the eye and keeps it mesmerized.

For the bride that is ready to own the spotlight from every angle.

##### **The Throwback**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Inez.avif)

Ethereal, floating, whimsical and nostalgic. This gown is all romance, sweetness and sensuality. [Inez](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/inez/) isn’t holding back. (When has she ever?) The off-the-shoulder neckline with its dramatic (removable!) puff sleeves gives the silhouette an enchanted quality, as though the whole dress belongs in a garden at golden hour. The 3D floral appliques are whimsical and fresh. The flowing tulle skirt billows and drifts giving romantic movement without a moment of effort.

For the bride that wants a wedding that feels like a dream come true: timeless, soft-focus, and glowing.

##### **The Botanical **

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Memphis.avif)

[Memphis](http://www.the-white-dress.com/dress/memphis/) is the stuff of legend… or dare we say *folklore?* The strapless silhouette grounds the look in clean confidence while the lace does the talking: oversized leaf and floral appliques cascade from the bodice down through the skirt in a pattern that feels more florist’s dream than formal wedding. The warm blush undertone of the tulle reads as feminine and slightly non-traditional in the most romantic way, softening what could otherwise be a bold, graphic statement into something soft and wild at once.

For the bride who dares to dream of *evermore*.

##### **The Glitz and Glam**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Ryan.avif)

An allover beaded sheath, [Ryan](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/ryan/) sparkles like the midnight sky. This gown is built for the moment the lights come up. The allover micro-texture of pearl and crystal beading is incandescent, a surface that seems to make its own light. The fitted sheath silhouette is precise and intentional, the sweetheart neckline feminine and clean, and the cathedral train brings the ceremony-worthy grandeur with a burlesque wink.

For the bride who has always expected her wedding to be her most important performance.

##### **The Subtle Ruffle**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Stassi.avif)

[Stassi](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/stassi/) is *enchanted*. The Chantilly lace bodice is detailed by texture and flatteringly simple in design. The lace spills naturally into a sparkle tulle skirt where wide cascading ruffles layer over layer without ever feeling heavy. This gown has dreamlike volume, gleaming and catching the light with every movement. The overall effect is fairytale, but comfortable. This is all soft-sparkle rather than bright shine.

For the bride who wants drama in a dress that still feels effortless to wear.

##### **The Accessory Story**

Taylor Swift has never worn a look halfway. From the pearl-drop earrings to the coordinated shoe moments, she understands that the accessory is part of the statement—and her wedding will be no different. TWDettes have some thoughts about how she might pull it all together.

- **Gloves** are the obvious starting point. Allyson’s square neckline was practically designed for opera-length gloves: clean, regal, and completely intentional. Felicity takes elbow-length lace to amplify the ornate quality already built into the sleeves. Ryan in white satin gloves is a pure Old Hollywood glamour moment, full stop.
- For **veils**, the scale has to match the dress. Allyson calls for cathedral length—nothing less would hold up to that Mikado skirt. Inez wears a chapel veil to complete the vintage fairytale. And Memphis? A full, sweeping veil creates an instant two-look effect just by removing it at the reception.
- Speaking of **two looks**: Allyson with a detachable cathedral train becomes an entirely different dress by the time the dancing starts. Ryan with a detachable overskirt could shift from cocktail-glam to full ballgown without missing a beat.
- **Color** is where things get interesting. Memphis in warm ivory reads softer against the bold botanical lace. Stassi in blush deepens the dreamlike quality of those cascading ruffles. And Felicity? Styled with Taylor’s red lip and nothing else leaves all the color in the makeup, none in the dress.
- Finally, **jewelry**. Allyson’s square neckline is built for a statement earring, not a necklace. Felicity’s open back means all eyes should stay at the ear. Ryan’s allover texture competes with anything too heavy—a simple strand of pearls, or nothing at all. Memphis calls for something botanical at the ear: fresh florals or fabric blooms to echo what the gown is already saying.

She’s going to think of everything. We’re just here for it.

### How Gen Z Is Changing Wedding Culture

#### For this generation, it’s all about vibes.

Every generation makes their own mark on wedding culture. With the rise of reality television in the early 00s, weddings became huge, blow-out affairs with guest lists large enough to fill a banquet hall. As Millennials hit their stride in the 2010s, the boho took hold. Weddings became more whimsical and more personal, with a larger portion of the budget put toward photography—and videography—than previous generations. Now it’s Gen Z’s turn, and the impact of their cultural influences is making itself known.

To understand how Gen Z is changing weddings, it’s helpful to remember the world in which they’ve come of age. Their formative years were shaped by the pandemic, the ubiquitous presence of social media, and greater multiculturalism. Gen Z are more likely to have grown up in mixed households with multiple races, religions, and sexual orientations. Their weddings reflect these influences, as more couples are rethinking which traditions to embrace, which to reimagine, and which to leave behind. Here are the top five trends we’re noticing from our youngest generation of brides.

![Iggy wedding dress in a beautiful outdoor setting](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/1.png)

##### 1. Elopements and courthouse weddings are in.

Back in the day, an elopement might cause a minor scandal if it meant the young couple was getting married without their family’s blessing. It might also imply that the couple was acting hastily, with little forethought before making a lifelong commitment to each other. At the very least, they were likely to ruffle some feathers, especially among guests who would have liked to attend and felt excluded.

The pandemic changed all that. Many young brides were forced to choose between postponing their big day until a time when they could have the large party of their dreams, or else scaling their celebrations down to just a handful of people.

In some cases, couples have come up with a satisfactory compromise: an elopement, followed by a reception party sometime after the honeymoon. These parties can take the pressure off the big day, and give more flexibility to those struggling to balance expectations about their weddings.

![small outdoor wedding with the groom popping champagne](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/2.png)

##### 2. Smaller venues, guest lists, and wedding parties.

Many couples who haven’t chosen to elope are still choosing to cut down on costs by having smaller parties overall. In some cases, this is the choice of younger generations to center their guest list around people they have a more intimate connection with, rather than their broader social network. The shift may also have to do with parental finances. Families may be less keen to splash out on a big reception in uncertain financial times, and that in turn makes it easier to talk the guest list down to a more manageable size.

The downsizing applies to wedding parties, too. The politics around who to ask to stand in your wedding have never been easy, and for a time, the solution seemed to be greater inclusivity. Gen Z has gone the other direction, and are more likely to limit their wedding parties to only a Best Man and Maid of Honor. That said, the gender makeup of bridal parties has also changed. These days, they are more likely to be mixed, with men and women on both sides of the aisle. Don’t be surprised by weddings that include a Man of Honor or Best Woman.

![modern wedding dresses](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/3.png)

##### 3. Meet the wedding wardrobe.

One thing that hasn’t scaled down? The wedding wardrobe. It used to be that brides would put their entire budget toward a dress. But with the ceremony and reception scaled down, many couples are putting more energy into events surrounding the wedding, such as the rehearsal dinner, joint bachelor/bachelorette parties, or brunch the next morning.

Some brides are choosing outfits for each event, allowing them to experiment with a wider range of styles and looks, such as a jumpsuit for the rehearsal, a ballgown for the ceremony, and a summer dress for brunch. It’s easier to justify these expenses if you’re paying less for a venue, or if you’re choosing outfits that you’re planning to re-wear on later occasions.

![3 beautiful, simple wedding dresses](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/4.png)

##### 4. Tradition is what they say it is.

As contradictory as it sounds to talk about “new traditions,” they have to come from somewhere, right? Often, traditions come from cultural or religious backgrounds. But as we touched on earlier, Gen Z are a multicultural group, more comfortable with religious fluidity and less committed to social norms that aren’t meeting their needs.

The response has been a wholesale rewriting of the rules. Young couples are finding ways to fuse cultures, or simply come up with ceremonies that have personal meaning. It’s altogether possible that by the time the next generation is ready to exchange vows, some of those traditions will have caught hold.

![collage of beautiful wedding aesthetics](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/5.png)

##### 5. Don’t forget the aesthetic.

Finally, let’s not overlook social media influence on wedding culture. Young audiences may want to do things on a smaller scale, but they still want to share it with everyone they know. And a huge part of that has to do with [creating an aesthetic](https://the-white-dress.com/blog/popular-wedding-aesthetics/) that translates well online. That may involve focusing on a unique centerpiece or backdrop for their wedding ceremony, or providing some form of novelty experience during the reception.

It also means going extra lengths to give the entire party a more cohesive visual feel, many of which can become very niche—think cottagecore, dark romance, or royal fantasy. We love this trend for two reasons. First, it’s a wonderful way to personalize the occasion without going for a full theme, which can sometimes feel overdone. But we also think it’s going to give the weddings of this decade a feel that will stand the test of time, as well as some incredible photos.

![black wedding dress, bridal jumpsuit and elegant white wedding dress with a cape](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/6.png)

##### Younger generations are prioritizing experiences over a big splash—and we’re here for it.

Gen Z may spend a lot of time online, but in some ways, that only heightens their commitment to the experiences they have with each other in person. The move toward smaller, more intimate ceremonies is a reflection of that.

At The White Dress, we love seeing brides step outside traditional choices for their weddings, especially when it means embracing their individuality. Whether your heart longs for a jumpsuit, [a black gown](https://the-white-dress.com/blog/black-wedding-dress/), or a flowing cape, we can help you style the dress of your dreams. #### High-profile weddings set trends and establish the style of an era. Here are our favorites from the past year.

Celebrity weddings have been a source of public curiosity ever since famous people started getting married. Human beings just love to celebrate, and what better reason to throw a big, expensive party than when two people who love each other exchange vows? So it should come as no surprise that these weddings often come to exemplify the fashions of the era, with designers going all out to create a look that will be talked about and imitated by others for years to come.

A [high-profile wedding](https://the-white-dress.com/blog/popular-wedding-aesthetics/) often piques our curiosity because we know that many brides look to them for their own inspiration. And why not! If you want to make a particularly bold choice for your wedding gown, following in the footsteps of one of your style icons can help you feel more confident. (Plus, it’s fun!)

2022 was a big year for both weddings and elopements, and not every celebrity chose to make their photos public. We’ve selected five gowns from our collection to match brides who did share their photos and included two extra picks in honor of a pair of style icons whose sartorial choices on the red carpet have made plenty of headlines in the past. Ready? Here we go.

![Jennifer Lopez in her wedding dress reminded us of Yolanda wedding dress](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/1-1.png)

##### 1. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck

It might have been twenty years coming, but [Jennifer Lopez](https://www.vogue.com/article/see-a-full-view-of-jennifer-lopez-wedding-dress) and Ben Affleck are married. While they initially tied the knot at a Vegas wedding, their formal ceremony proved to be a more lavish affair. All the guests wore white, while Lopez herself changed between three different gowns.

For our dress choice, we focused on the dramatic ruffled hemline of Lopez’s first dress, which reminded us of [Yolanda](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/yolanda/), and it wouldn’t be a Lopez-inspired dress without a [trumpet silhouette](https://the-white-dress.com/blog/wedding-dress-silhouette/).

![Britney Spears in her wedding dress reminded us of Franchesca wedding dress](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/2-1.png)

##### 2. Britney Spears and Sam Asghari

[Britney Spears](https://www.elle.com/culture/celebrities/a40244884/britney-spears-versace-wedding-dress-photos/) also got married in 2022 in the second wedding to make us feel like it’s the early 00s again. After getting engaged to her long-time boyfriend in the fall of 2021, Spears held the [wedding at her home](https://the-white-dress.com/best-bridal-dresses-by-venue-for-2022/) in June 2022. Her gown, designed by Versace, features off-the-shoulder sleeves, a boned bodice, and a thigh-high slit.

Brides who loved this dress definitely need to give [Franchesca](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/franchesca/) a look. The construction of the bodice has very similar seam lines to Spears’ gown, and even includes off-the-shoulder straps.

![Jennifer Holland in her wedding dress reminded us of Zara wedding dress](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/3-1.png)

##### 3. James Gunn and Jennifer Holland

After director [James Gunn](https://www.instagram.com/p/CjI68kQgLON/?hl=en) married his partner of seven years, the actress [Jennifer Holland](https://www.instagram.com/p/CjI3vIOAPbf/?hl=en), both posted pictures of their Colorado wedding to Instagram. While Holland wore several looks during the event, the dress she chose for the ceremony was the obvious showstopper.

We think her gown is a dead ringer for Zara, which also features a high illusion neckline, long sleeves, and a trailing lace train, while the style of lace is a close match to some of Holland’s other wedding outfits.

![Taylor Dome in her wedding dress reminded us of the wedding dress Cameo](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/4-1.png)

##### 4. Taylor Lautner and Taylor Dome

When *Twilight* star Taylor Lautner married Taylor Dome, a registered nurse, this November, it was a year to the day from their engagement. [Dome](https://en.vogue.me/weddings/twlight-actor-taylor-lautner-sunset-wedding-taylor-dome-california-pictures/) chose an all-over lace gown with a thigh-high slit, a sweetheart neckline, and trailing sleeves that hung from the shoulders like wings.

When we saw her wedding dress, [Cameo](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/cameo/) came immediately to mind. The full skirt with layers of tulle brings the boho vibes, while the high slit makes it perfect for dancing. The vine pattern from the lace continues into the thin straps, which can be worn off the shoulder for a more romantic touch.

If you’re in love with the trailing wings from Taylor’s dress, we can recreate these with a simple add-on from our accessories. We call them Watteau streamers, and they can be attached to the shoulders of any dress, creating that ethereal look!

![Vanessa Villela in her wedding dress is similar to Christina wedding dress from our collection](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/5-1.png)

##### 5. Vanessa Villela and Nick Hardy

You don’t have to be fans of the reality series *Selling Sunset* to be invested in the wedding gown chosen by one of its stars, [Vanessa Villela](https://people.com/home/inside-selling-sunset-star-vanessa-villelas-magical-and-cinematic-wedding/). Her style went full glamour, and we felt we would be remiss not to bring you a dress inspired by her wedding.

And for that, our pick is [Christina](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/christina/). Did you love the sweetheart neckline and boning of Villela’s bodice? Check. Were you in love with the unique lace? Check. Is your heart set on a ballgown silhouette? Check. This dress has all that, plus the sparkle and shimmer we’ve come to love from the Abella line. Come try it on for yourself.

![Rita Ora and Ana Taylor-Joy in beautiful gowns reminded us of Milan and Minka dresses in our collection](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/6-1.png)

##### Honorable mentions: Rita Ora and Anya Taylor-Joy

Many celebrities this year chose to elope or held quiet nuptials away from the press. And to them we say: more power to you! Smaller weddings have been growing in popularity since the pandemic, and it’s no surprise to see famous names embracing them along with the rest of us.

Two notable examples include [Rita Ora](https://people.com/movies/rita-ora-and-taika-waititi-married-in-very-small-ceremony-exclusive/), who eloped with director Taika Waititi after a month-long engagement, and [Anya Taylor-Joy](https://www.elle.com/culture/celebrities/a36477829/who-is-malcolm-mcrae-anya-taylor-joy-boyfriend/), who married musician Malcolm McRae in a courthouse wedding sometime last summer. While neither have shared pictures of their wedding dresses publicly, both have been known for stunning red carpet moments over the years, so we picked two of our gowns which we believe best represent their style.

Rita Ora is known for her daring style choices, which range from bold to downright risqué. Some of her more recent looks have embraced a power shoulder, so we took that as our inspiration in choosing [Milan](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/milan/), which also features dimensional lace and a low back.

For Taylor-Joy, we chose [Minka](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/minka/). The backless bodice and plunging neckline combined with the figure-hugging silhouette bring to mind the iconic [emerald Dior gown](https://www.harpersbazaar.com/uk/fashion/fashion-news/a35675357/anya-taylor-joy-dior-dress-golden-globes/) she wore for the 2021 Golden Globes.

If you have been browsing the site lately, I am sure you have stumbled upon our very first Bride of the Month!  However, in order to fully live out what being a White Dress Bride of the Month means, we are re-posting the feature here.  Enjoy!

So full disclosure.  As I am sure you have figured out, how can we possibly have a [Bride of the Month](https://the-white-dress.com/our-brides/) when we have barely been open yet?  (We can’t fool you, smarty pants.)  Well, it’s true.  Our very fist Bride of the Month didn’t get her dress at The White Dress, Bridal Shops in Brighton.  But, that doesn’t make her any less fabulous (as you will soon see).  And Christine graciously decided to give us a hand by showing all of you just what being Bride of the Month means.  Thank you Christine!

And one last very important note.  All photographs, unless otherwise noted, are by [Kai Heeringa Photography](http://www.kaiheeringaphotography.com/blog/) based out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.  (And as you will see, Kai and Kayley are jaw dropping ah. maz. ing.)

So, without further ado…

[![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Christine-1.png)](https://the-white-dress.com/bride/christine/christine-1/)

{Meet Christine.}

Christine wed her now husband, PJ, on September 3, 2011.  It was a lovely, but hot (and we mean H-O-T) day.  Still, with the love that was in the air at [Heavenly Scent Herb Farm](http://www.heavenlyscentherbfarm.com/), the guests at Christine and PJ’s wedding only remember the very touching wedding ceremony.

[![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Christine-2.jpg)](https://the-white-dress.com/bride/christine/christine-2/)

{Are those tears drops?  Or something else…}

Before we delve into the rest of the gorgeous wedding photos, let’s take a step back in Christine and PJ history…

Christine met PJ during her senior year at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  And though the sparks started flying almost instantly, they were headed into a long distance relationship as they each went different ways post-college.  Christine ended up in New York City for a year, and then moved back to Michigan to get her degree in Nursing.  PJ on the other hand, had one more year to finish up at school before he spent a short stint in Ohio (in his home town) which was followed by a move to Washington, D.C.  After three years in their long distance relationship, Christine finally had the opportunity to meet PJ in Washington, D.C. where she started her first nursing job.

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Engagement-2.jpg)

{Captured by the lovely Katie Campbell.}

Christine felt sure that as soon as this move happened, PJ would propose.  Well, we all know what the antsy girlfriend gets – more wait time!  However, their relationship flourished as they were finally able to spend time together on a weekly basis for the first time since college.  But wait Christine did.

About two years after Christine’s move to the Nation’s capital, PJ popped the question!  As they both shared a love of Scrabble, PJ decided to use this classic board game to surprise Christine with his first word, “M-A-R-R-Y  M-E”.  Christine couldn’t have been more thrilled with his surprise, and their 13 month engagement began.

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Engagement-1.jpg)

{An engagement photo.  Katie Campbell Photography.}

Christine jumped in head first having been anticipating getting married for quite some time.  Her first decision?  The venue!  This item on the checklist was a bit troublesome for the couple though.  After finding what they thought was their perfect venue, they put down a deposit and started working on the rest of the details for their day.  Then a few weeks later, a bump in the wedding planning road – the venue had a strong possibility of closing.  Both Christine and PJ were crushed as they had started dreaming about their perfect wedding at that particular location.  But instead of risking their money and wedding day dreams, they decided to pull out of this location, and moved on to Plan B.  (And Plan B, was oh so amazing as you will see below!)  So, Christine’s advice:

> Do not stress out too much when something goes wrong!  Everything happens for a reason and even with our seemingly huge setback in the first month of planning, everything turned out perfectly – I couldn’t have asked for a better wedding!

Another big decision?  The wedding colors!  Christine choose the unique combo of purple and green.

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Christine-31.png)

{Christine with her girls.}

Christine decided each girl could choose which bridesmaid dress they wanted to wear, but had them all made out of the same fabric and color.  This provided a cohesive look, yet also added some visual interest in the photos.  And let’s not forget that each girl really got to show her personality and personal style through her dress!   Props to Christine for allowing this creativity!

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Christine-41.jpg)

{Don’t you just love how the purple pops with the green?  It is like the trees were ready for Christine’s wedding!}

{The girls get some props.  Which were also a nice bit of shade from the sweltering sun and heat.}

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Christine-5.jpg)

{The bride’s shoes are even showing off the primary wedding color.}

When Christine looks back on her wedding day, she recalls vividly her wedding ceremony, as the most memorable moment of the day:

> The weather was so beautiful and we were surrounded by all of our loving friends and family; PJ and I stood across from each other throughout the ceremony.  I believe that at that moment, I was the happiest I have ever been.  I remember looking at him the entire time and smiling from ear to ear.

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Christine-201.jpg)

{Here comes the bride.}

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Christine-19.jpg)

{Christine was all smiles – no tears – on her big walk!}

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Christine-21.jpg)

{Exchanging wedding bands.}

And their love was felt by all that day…starting with getting ready!  It seemed that nothing could get Christine nervous, worried, or stressed.  (Another exemplary quality for brides – staying calm and relaxed on your wedding day!)

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Christine-8.jpg)

{Christine bonding with her girls before she dons the dress.}

And what we all have been waiting for…the dress shots!  Christine’s gown was made of shimmering taffeta, and featured a glamorous scooped neck and bejeweled waistline, which turned out perfect for the hot  and sunny day they were blessed with.  Beside the fact that taffeta is a lighter weight material, she literally did glow in her love that day.

{The gown from afar.}

#### National Bridal Market is one of our industry’s premier trade shows. Here’s why that matters for you.

Of the pre-Covid traditions we missed as a bridal boutique, one of the biggest was our regular trip to Chicago for National Bridal Market. For the past few years, industry disruptions and Covid precautions have made it difficult to attend. So this year, making the trip in person was a big moment for our whole team.

Bridal Market is a semi-annual event that brings designers from all around the world together to the trade floor where they showcase their wares for industry buyers. Of course, for many designers, packing up trunk-loads of dresses and traveling hundreds of miles is only worthwhile if they know that those attending are qualified resellers. For this reason, Bridal Market is not open to the general public. To attend, buyers not only need to register, they must also demonstrate that they are active resellers within the bridal industry.

Bridal Market isn’t just for wedding dresses. It’s also for bridesmaid and flower girl dresses, headpieces and veils, men’s formalwear, footwear, and even bridal lingerie. And it isn’t just a time to look at products on display. We also have a chance to attend industry seminars and even see the latest gowns modeled on the runway.

We love Bridal Market. It’s a time for our team to bond over a weekend trip to Chicago filled with gorgeous wedding dresses by day and cocktails by night. But as fun as Bridal Market is to attend, it’s also important for our brides. Not every bridal boutique makes the trip, but we truly believe that in order to provide a first-class experience for our customers, we need to be at the forefront of industry trends. Bridal Market lets us do that. Here’s why.

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Blog-1-1024x512.jpg)

##### 1. We get up close and personal with hundreds of dresses.

Over a hundred and fifty brands attend Bridal Market, so when we say it gives us a chance to experience the best the industry has to offer, that’s no exaggeration. It’s also an essential opportunity for us to see for ourselves what dresses look like. There’s only so much you can gather from a product description or a photograph. Only by seeing the dresses for ourselves can we get a good sense of  their production quality and how they move when worn.

For example, one of the bridal lines we’ve been most excited about in recent years has been the [Abella collection](https://the-white-dress.com/blog/introducing-the-abella-gown-collection-from-allure-bridals/) from Allure Bridals. The fabrics used for these dresses shimmered in a way that we had never seen before, and their true beauty is hard to appreciate until you’ve seen them in motion.

Bridal Market is our first opportunity to preview new collections and select sample dresses to carry in our store. While we continue to carry many of our sample dresses for several years, Bridal Market also allows us to add new dresses to our boutique each year.

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Blog-4-1024x512.jpg)

##### 2. We keep an eye on emerging trends and what’s hot.

Bridal Market is the Fashion Week of the bridal industry. Many of the dresses we’re seeing are so new that they aren’t even offered in stores yet—some may never make it into production. As we walk the trade floor, we’re keeping our eyes out for the newest ideas so that by the time a bride spots a trend she would like to try, we already have a dress waiting in our store for her to try on.

That said, trend spotting isn’t just about finding what’s popular—it’s also about knowing what our brides in Michigan want to buy. We’re keenly aware of what styles will be popular among our brides, and are ready to take a deeper dive into those collections. As a result, we can present a wider array of gowns in the trend our brides care about (hello, boho!), so that no one feels like they’re limited to the same selection.

We’re also happy to order in a sample gown through our [loaner program](https://the-white-dress.com/blog/looking-for-a-dress-try-our-sample-loaner-program/) from any of our designers. So if you see a gown on one of our designers’ websites that you just love, we can still get it for you, even if it’s not one we usually carry in our store.

##### ![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Blog-3-1-1024x512.jpg)

##### 3. We meet designers and learn more about their collections.

If you’ve ever heard about trunk shows and been interested in attending one, than you should know that Bridal Market is where we make the networking connections that make these events possible. We’re very selective about which designers we work with at our boutique. We only carry a certain number of labels, and we want to be sure that each designer is one our brides will love.

At Bridal Market, we not only get to see the gowns up close, we’re also able to talk to the designers about their collections—where they find their inspiration, what their design ethos is, and how they choose their fabrics and embellishments. Sometimes, learning these extra details is just what we need to hear to decide carry a new line of dresses in our store or invite a designer for a trunk show.

For example, we just love the unique angle  the design team [Lis Simon](https://the-white-dress.com/blog/designer-spotlight-lis-simon/) takes on their collections. Along with their more traditional collection, they also offer separate tops and bottoms that can be mixed and matched and sewn together to create a complete look. Or there’s the [Adore](https://the-white-dress.com/blog/introducing-adore-by-justin-alexander/) line by Justin Alexander, which offers simple, affordable dresses on a faster timeline. By meeting designers and talking with them about their collections, we gain a better understanding of why those gowns were designed a certain way and what makes them special.

##### Bridal Market lets us be certain we’re giving our brides the latest and greatest gown selection.

We may be based in small-town Michigan, but there’s nothing provincial about our boutique. You can be sure when you visit our store that our collection contains the latest styles. And, if you have any questions about possibilities for alteration, we can discuss those changes directly with the designer to see what can be done.

Finally, while this may be an unsung part of the experience, we also find that making the trip to Bridal Market is important for our team. Those of us who go are able to learn first-hand about the industry and gain the kind of insights that let us help our brides find their perfect gown. We’re also able to share our thoughts with each other about the latest trends and become closer-knit as a team.

So if you’re on the hunt for your perfect gown, there’s no better time to book an appointment. With the season’s latest trends fresh on their minds, our bridal team is bursting with inspiration.. [Schedule your visit with us today](https://the-white-dress.com/schedule-appointment).

#### Make a reservation to try on dresses from our annual National Bride Day sale, running July 21–25!

As a bridal boutique, we accumulate a lot of dresses. Each season, designers release a new line, and in order to make room for them, we need to retire some of the previous season’s sample wedding dresses. That’s why, every year, for National Bride Day, we run a special sale of all the sample dresses we have in store—as well as a few that are brand new!

It’s a perfect chance for brides to come in and purchase a gown off the rack at a bargain price. If you’re a bride who is shopping on short notice, this may be your only chance to get a dress in time for your wedding! Because these dresses won’t be ordered in, there’s no wait. All you have to do is find a dress in your size, and plan for a few alterations to achieve the perfect fit!

Sounds too good to be true, right? Just wait till you hear more of the details.

##### Over a hundred dresses in sizes 8–24.

This isn’t a small sale with only a handful of dresses. We have over a hundred dresses that we’re offering brides in sizes ranging from 8–24. They come in every style, too! From dramatic ball gowns to figure-hugging [boho](https://the-white-dress.com/lookbook/boho-fantasy/) slips to little tea-length numbers, you can find a dress to fit any wedding style.

90% of our dresses are on sale for under $1000, and some are as low as $100! This is an unbeatable opportunity for a bride to get the dress of her dreams without breaking her budget. And just because these sample dresses are nearing the end of their run doesn’t mean you can’t find a statement couture dress! We may be offering you a great deal, but we still want you to look—and feel—fabulous!

##### Covid-19 requirements for visiting our bridal boutique safely.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, brides who come to our boutique will need to follow a few safety protocols:

- **Appointment only.** Brides must schedule an appointment as we are limiting the number of people in our store at any time.
- **1–3 people per group, bride included.** In order to maintain social distancing guidelines, we are limiting the size of groups inside the store at any time. The bride can bring up to two companions along to her appointment.
- **Call or text upon arrival.** Because we don’t allow walk-ins, you will need to text us when you arrive. We will open the door for you and escort you to your fitting room!
- **Face coverings required.** For the protection of our brides, their friends and families, and our TWD-ettes, we are requiring everyone to wear a face covering at all times. Thank you for being considerate!
- **Remain in the fitting room.** Unfortunately, we cannot let our brides browse the wedding dresses at this time. However, our lovely fashionistas know our dresses by heart. They’ll listen to what you have in mind and select dresses that match your vision!

Want to be prepared? Take a look at our [Sample Sale dresses](https://the-white-dress.com/sample-sale-event/) to see what we have on offer! We’ll be doing our best to keep our list up to date with dresses as we add them to the sale, but because these are sample dresses, once we’ve sold them they’re gone for good. So if you see a dress you love, book an appointment right away!

##### We look forward to welcoming you to our boutique!

Although we’ve had to make new arrangements to be safe during the coronavirus pandemic, we are so excited to be welcoming our brides back to our store. And with our National Bride Day sale, there’s never been a better reason to [schedule an appointment](https://the-white-dress.com/schedule-appointment). So come on in! We’ll be delighted to help you find THE dress—from a safe distance, of course!

### 6 Trends We Saw at the Fall 2022 Bridal Market

#### Bridal fashion is undergoing a big shift. Here are the top six design trends we noticed at Chicago’s Fall 2022 Bridal Market.

Fashion is always changing, but it’s fairly common to see certain trends take hold and settle in to become a defining feature of an era. Waistlines rise and fall, pant legs go from flared to skinny to relaxed, strapless gowns give way to long lace sleeves, and so on and so forth. But there are times when a major fashion shift seems to happen all at once, when the trends aren’t just riffing on current ideas, but introducing completely new elements, and when staying stylish isn’t just a matter of replacing your jeans when they wear out, but of updating your entire wardrobe.

Every Bridal Market is a sneak peek at where the industry is headed, and for the past few shows we’ve noticed small shifts that have indicated an upcoming change in direction. This fall, it was clear that the change had arrived.

While many of the most popular wedding styles are still running strong (boho gowns aren’t going anywhere anytime soon), the new trends dominated almost every designer we saw. If you’re interested in where bridal is headed, here’s what to keep an eye out for.

##### ![bride wearing a wedding dress with a corset top and pearls against a close up of pearls and sequins](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Pearl.png)

##### 1. Pearls.

For the past few years, the subtle sheen of pearls has sat back seat to the more dramatic bling of diamonds, crystals, and sequins. Pearls were present, but understated—cascading down the edge of a veil, for instance. This year, we saw pearls everywhere, often sewn onto the dresses as the stand out bead work, or to enhance three-dimensional lace.

##### ![two slim wedding dresses with small sequins that create a beautiful shimmering look](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Structure.png)

##### 2. Solid sequin sparkle.

The emergence of pearls doesn’t mean dresses are becoming less sparkly. In fact, this year every designer seemed to have at least one dress that was head-to-toe sequin sparkle. What set these gowns apart was how integrated the sequins were with the actual fabric of the dress. Many brides have some hesitation when it comes to sequins, because even those who are looking for a show-stopping dress don’t want to look like they’re part of a beauty pageant (especially if they’re planning to wear a tiara!). However, we felt these gowns kept the bridal feel while also amping up the glamour.

We thought this trend was just too good so we have ordered our samples in two sizes so everyone can give them a try! We are excited to have them in our store in the coming months.

##### ![two beautiful wedding dresses with floral lace that creates a detailed, deep texture](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/labor.png)

##### 3. Floral lace: Oversized or miniaturized.

Lace has been a ubiquitous part of bridal fashion for years, especially lace designs that incorporate unique patterns or botanical motifs. The lace we’re seeing now is trending in three different directions: larger, smaller, or dimensional.

First off, we’re seeing more large scale floral—patterns so large that from a distance they look almost like a print. We’re also seeing more dimensional lace, where the lacework is appliquéd with beaded elements to create a design with more depth. Finally, we’re seeing micro lace, where the pattern creates more of a texture than a design.

##### ![3 bridal gloves. 2 of them are sheer with small lace detail and another that is plain classy silk](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Designer.png)

##### 4. Gloves.

If there’s one trend that gives us a thrill of excitement, it’s the way gloves have taken over the bridal scene. As an accessory, long gloves have often lingered on the border of being either charmingly vintage or awkwardly costume-like. One way to make an accessory seem more genuine and less like an article of dress-up is to bring it into the modern era with a new twist. This is what we’re currently seeing with gloves.

While the classic satin gloves can be seen in abundance, the new trend also includes sheer gloves and ones embellished with pearls, rhinestones, and beading. Tiaras also continue to be in vogue, so feel free to channel Audrey Hepburn in *Breakfast at Tiffany’s* to your heart’s delight.

##### ![manequins wearing black gowns of different styles](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Custom.png)

##### 5. Black wedding dresses.

If the trends so far have seemed a touch dramatic, wait till you see the new black dresses. Black dresses have been available—although rare—for a few years now. There have been signs of growing interest in black wedding gowns (their frequent presence on Pinterest boards, for instance), but in most cases, the black dresses we’ve seen have been custom gowns. Rather than full black, it’s been more common for dresses to have black details, such as a champagne-colored dress that we carry in our store which has a black lace overlay. It hasn’t been until this year that we’ve truly seen black dresses come into their own.

At Bridal Market, we were excited to see an entire display dedicated to black wedding dresses. We also saw black gowns in a range of styles, from flowing boho gowns with large organic lace, to voluminous tulle dresses with cinched-in waists that looked like they could have come straight from a 1950s Dior catalogue. All of which is to say that if you’ve ever dreamed of a black wedding dress, your time has come: you have *options*.

##### ![2 sleek wedding dresses with a little shine and beautiful geometric outline](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/6.png)

##### 6. Clean fabric.

Last but not least, sleek, unembellished styles are also settling in as one of the popular new looks. Many of the dresses we saw at this year’s show managed to embrace the minimalism of a smooth look, whether it be with satin, chiffon, organza, or crepe, in a way that still felt romantic enough for a wedding. Many designers are taking their clean gown designs up a level, through seam placements, cutout lace in the train, or a unique back strap, so that gowns that appear simple at first glance actually do have a standout feature on closer inspection.

In particular, Mikado satin—which is a thicker, more luxurious weave of fabric than traditional satin—has become especially trendy. We bought one of our gowns in black Mikado satin, and can’t wait for it to arrive in our store.

##### ![collage of different dresses from the 2022 Fall bridal market](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Fabric.png)

##### New trends coming soon to The White Dress!

One of the main reasons we attend Bridal Market is to see gowns in person and put in orders for what we’d like to have in our boutique. We’re very selective with what we stock in our [Michigan bridal store](https://the-white-dress.com/blog/6-tips-for-wedding-dress-shopping-in-michigan/), because we know that not every trend is a good fit for our brides. We also know that keeping up on all the emerging styles is part of what sets us apart. Brides who come to our shop know that they can try on dresses that are hot off the runway, so to speak.

There’s typically a delay of 6-8 months between seeing a gown at Bridal Market and getting it in our stores, because designers need time to fill the sample orders. However, we frequently post about new arrivals in our store, so keep an eye on this space if you’re interested in trying on these dresses.

In the meantime, the gowns we carry in store currently include ones we discovered during our [trip to Bridal Market this past spring](https://the-white-dress.com/blog/we-went-to-bridal-market/), as well as wedding dresses from the most recent collections of all our designers. If your wedding date is less than a year away, we encourage you not to put off scheduling...

#### What would our favorite Stars Hollow characters wear for their wedding? Here’s what we selected.

It’s a perennial game: choose a popular show or book series, and figure out which dresses are a best fit for the main characters. As a wedding dress boutique, we love imagining which of our gowns would suit different characters, and which design details might be the perfect easter eggs. (Check out our previous selections for [Taylor Swift eras](https://the-white-dress.com/which-taylor-swift-era-is-your-wedding-dress/) and popular [fandoms](https://the-white-dress.com/blog/how-to-choose-a-fandom-wedding-dress/)!)

This weekend, our hometown of Brighton, MI is hosting a very special fan event honoring one of the 2000s most beloved shows. [Destination Stars Hollow: A Gilmore Fan Celebration](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/destination-stars-hollow-a-gilmore-fan-celebration-tickets-915648618667) is this Saturday, where fans of the show are invited to dress up as their favorite character and explore our downtown, where over forty local businesses—including us!—will be offering themed experiences.

In preparation, we’ve pulled together a selection of wedding gowns that we think perfectly fits each of our favorite characters. You can [see our selections on Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C_ywl9zvX9f/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link) (give us a follow!) and read more about our choices below.

##### Lorelai Gilmore: Gorgeous and glowing.

![Dramatic and free-spirited, we know Monika would be a perfect fit for a true bohemian like Lorelai. With delicate straps, a plunge neckline, and exposed boning, this gown is perfect for a fall wedding—complete with cups and cups and cups of coffee. While the trumpet silhouette is stunning, our favorite feature is the subtly textured lace which gives the whole gown an extra layer of radiance. ##### Rory Gilmore: Effortlessly romantic.

![For Rory, we chose Ariya. We love the fitted lace bodice and thin straps, as well as the overall flow of this dress—a gown that is both thoughtful and whimsical. And just like Rory, this dress may seem sleek and straightforward in front, but it saves its drama for the train! Perhaps the most beautiful detail is the scalloped lace at the hem, which gives this otherwise modern dress a slightly traditional finish.

##### Lane Kim: The double-take.

![We would expect Lane to add a twist to her gown, which is why we chose Mason. We like how this dress has the clean, simple lines of a more traditional era, but spices it up with a thigh high slit. And for that second look (because Lane did have two wedding dresses!), the detachable overskirt reveals a short party dress underneath! ##### Paris Geller: A statement in minimalism.

![Of course Paris would go for Archer. Known for her sharp whit, we couldn’t help but pick a dress that embodied “saying more with less.” A sophisticated gown, we imagine the smooth satin embellished with pearls would appeal to Paris’s ambition—as well as her taste. The plunge neckline give this gown an extra bit of edge that is not for the faint of heart. We think this dress would style well with a chic French twist and a pair of chandelier earrings.

![For Sookie, we’ve chosen Greer. The long sleeves remind us of the gorgeous wedding dress she wore in the show, while, the trailing lace pattern gives this gown a soft, ephemeral quality. With it’s classic lines and smooth fabric, this dress is one for showing off the accessories, such as a beautiful necklace, statement ear rings, and of course your rings. #### **Gowns that combine intricate detail, dramatic silhouettes, feminine energy, and modern styling are the TWDette’s favorites! We’ve collected some stand-out pieces with Bridgerton vibes to help you find your perfect gown.**

Dearest gentle reader, gowns for modern brides do not need to look like costumes in order to give the feeling of being a lady of the “ton.” Bridgerton has fired our imagination with a fantastical version of the Regency era, embracing the drama and splendor of an era of courtly romance and fashion experimentation. We’re here to inspire you with gowns that embrace the elements of femininity, artistry, and drama!

Keep reading to look through our selection of Gowns with Bridgerton-style flair.

##### **Courtly Grandeur and Sovereign Grace**

The high drama and pageantry of the regency court is exciting. The Queen presiding over the debut of young ladies, the glitz, the glamour. Whether you are drawn to the excitement of a debut, love the energy of being the center of attention, or to the regal feeling of reigning over the moment, there is something to inspire so many brides!

[**Aurelia**](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/aurelia/) is a regal ballgown that commands the room. This strapless cat-eye scooped neckline of this pannier bodice reimagines the princess seams into an incredibly flattering silhouette that can be adorned with sprigs of floral lace or stand on its own to show off the luxurious Mikado fabric.

![Auralia](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Allyson.avif)

Layers of tulle, lace and sequins are the foundation of beauty for [**Fayette**](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/fayette/). This gown takes the drama up to the next level with an incredible strapless corseted Basque bodice. This majestic gown draws all eyes, centering the bride as the queen of her special day.

The textured Jacquard satin of [**Penelope**](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/penelope/) is so incredibly eye catching that she couldn’t be a wallflower if she tried. The curve hugging trumpet silhouette is flattering alone, but the detachable cathedral train adds drama and a royal pedigree to this already stunning dress. Exposed boning and a modern strapless straight neckline top off this majestic ensemble.

##### **Opulence and Adornment**

The settings of Bridgerton are lavish and beautiful. There are gorgeous ballrooms festooned with incredible floral arrangements and glittering with crystal chandeliers holding a myriad of glowing candles bathing rooms in warm light. There are gardens overflowing with perfectly manicured flowers, bushes, and trees. And there are drawing rooms decorated with incredible paintings, portraits, and lush furnishing. This sense of opulence underscores all the breathless moments of courtship in the Bridgerton world. Gowns adorned with lavish detail bring this sense to the modern bride!

[Marguerite](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/marguerite/) is a lustrous example of the lavishness of Regency sensibility. The rouched charmeuse bodice with peekaboo lace neckline detail catches the light at every flattering angle. The rich fabric flows down in an A-line skirt spilling out into a flowing chapel train. The invisible boning within the bodice provides structure for the rouched keyhole back, a detail that can be fully customized based on the bride’s preferences—with or without the keyhole.

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Marguerite.avif)

Exquisitely draped satin, exposed boning, a Basque waist, and intricate lace make [Huntley](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/huntley/) another opulent gown that would be just as at home in regency decorated drawing rooms as in a modern wedding venue. The corseted bodice, draped off-shoulder sleeves and straight cut skirt that spills out into a chapel train make incredibly flattering combination, perfect for the bride who loves the elegance of the settings and clothing of the Bridgerton series.

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Huntley.avif)

Sumptuous lace encrusted with pearls and sequins make [Rosabelle](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/rosabelle/) a gleaming, fabulous gown for any bride inspired by the richness of detail in Bridgerton. Layers of shimmering tulle and silver netting in an A-line silhouette flow down from an elegant open V-neck rising up to draped off-shoulder straps which can be removed for a look that focuses on the bare arm. The intricate pearl beading is elegant and eye catching adding a richness to the floral and vine lace pattern.

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Rosabelle.avif)

##### **Femininity and Romance**

Beyond the grand ballrooms and the court’s pageantry, it is Bridgerton’s quieter moments that linger longest. The garden strolls and whispered conversations. The love letters delivered in secret. The stolen glances across a crowded room. These moments speak to the bride who leads with feeling, who wants her gown to move with her as gracefully as the most enchanting scene in the series. For her, romance is not a backdrop. It is the whole story.

Dreamy and sweeping, [**Isabelle**](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/Isabelle/) is a gown that blooms. Soft tulle and floral lace build a many-layered handkerchief hem. A deep illusion V-neckline draws the eye upward to a fully lace-covered bodice that rises into lace-covered straps, while an open V-back and chapel train lend the silhouette a wistful, ethereal quality. This is the gown that drifts into the room, soft and luminous, impossible to forget.

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Isabelle.avif)

[**Salome**](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/salome/) is floaty and ethereal, with a graceful tulle A-line skirt hiding a slit detail beneath. Delicate vine and floral lace adorns the sweetheart strapless bodice, and gentle trails of lace continue from the waist out onto the skirt like a garden coming into bloom. Salome is the gown for the bride who wants to feel as though she stepped out of one of Bridgerton’s most enchanting garden scenes.

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Salome.avif)

Gentle and graceful, [**Phoebe Jane**](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/phoebe-jane/) moves like a soft exhale. Organza with a gently colored floral print brings a tender quality to every step, while spaghetti straps with detachable off-shoulder sleeves offer effortless versatility. Buttons trailing down the back complete a look that is quietly romantic in its simplicity, and utterly charming.

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Phoebe-Jane.avif)

##### **Period Sensibility and Modern Edge**

One of Bridgerton’s most quietly brilliant choices is the way it refuses to be a period piece in any conventional sense. The modern musical arrangements played on strings, the diverse and vibrant casting, the knowing wink at its own anachronisms. The show understands that Regency is not a rulebook to follow but a feeling to inhabit. For the bride who shares that sensibility, the goal is not to recreate the past but to reinterpret it. She wears history with confidence and makes it entirely her own.

Assured and sleek, [**Jo**](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/jo/) is the understated counterpoint to maximalism. A stretch satin sheath with clean, considered lines and a classically flattering square neckline, this gown says everything without saying too much. A timeless, quietly refined chapel train grounds the look with a sense of occasion. For the bride who wants elegance without pageantry, Jo is perfect.

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Jo.avif)

There is something quietly rebellious about [**Betty**](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/betty/). A chic Mikado strapless bodice with a very subtle Basque waist and a corset-style laced back sits atop a depth-layered...

### Regal, Romantic, and Right Now: Bridal Market Trends for the 2026 Wedding Planning Season

#### **As Michigan’s wedding season bursts into full bloom, we are so excited to share the latest trends! For our beautiful brides shopping right now, the timing could not be better.**

As weather warms up and the days get longer, Michigan brides-to-be are in full wedding planning mode. At TWD, we are seeing it in real time: brides coming through our doors with a vision, a timeline, and a readiness to find the gown that makes everything feel real. If that is you right now, welcome! You are shopping at exactly the right moment.

Every year, the National Bridal Market in Chicago brings together the industry’s top designers and tastemakers, and TWD is on the showroom floors looking for the special gowns that will thrill our brides. TWD is part of a select group of bridal boutiques that carry unique designers, including being the only authorized Lis Simon retailer in Michigan. We want our brides to have access to the very best, and that means knowing what the best looks like before it arrives.

What we saw at Bridal Market confirmed what we have been feeling in the collections coming into the boutique: bridal is having a royal romantic revival. The silhouettes are more expressive, the details are more intentional, and the overall direction is lush, feminine, and genuinely beautiful. Some of these trends have been building over the last few seasons and are now at full force. Others are just arriving and turning heads across the industry.

Here is what is reigning in bridal right now.

##### **The Basque Waist: Still the Queen of the Aisle**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Basque-Waist.avif)

If there is one trend that defined 2025 and has absolutely no intention of stepping down, it is the Basque waist. This V-shaped waistline, whether dramatically deep or just gently dipped, was everywhere at Bridal Market 2026. Absolutely everywhere. Designers are leaning into it hard, and brides are responding in kind.

It is easy to understand why. The Basque waist is one of those rare design elements that works beautifully across body types and silhouettes. It elongates the torso, highlights the natural waist, and adds a quietly sophisticated structure that elevates any gown from lovely to stunning. Paired with a ballgown skirt, it is regal. Paired with a slim sheath, it is très chic.

This is a trend that earned its moment, and it is not going anywhere. If you have been eyeing a Basque waist gown, this is your sign! The stars and the runways are aligned.

Some of our favorite Basque Waist gowns are *Sia*, *Christi*, and *Moonlight J7003*

##### **Brocade, Jacquard, and Tone-on-tone: The Art of Fabric**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Brocade.avif)

Textured fabrics are still having a major moment, and the 2026 collections made it clear that this trend has plenty of runway left. Brocade, jacquard, all-over lace and tone-on-tone printed satins continued to show up in gown after gorgeous gown at the market, each one a testament to what happens when the fabric itself becomes part of the design story.

The range within this trend is part of what makes it so exciting. True brocades bring a raised, embossed richness that feels like wearable art. Woven jacquards offer a more subtle interplay of matte and sheen that catches light beautifully with every movement. All-over lace gives raised texture and movement. And tone-on-tone prints (think ivory-on-ivory or champagne-on-champagne) give you that luxurious textured look with a softness that photographs like a dream.

These fabrics speak for themselves. An all-over lace is a statement in textured elegance. On a well-chosen jacquard, the weave does the talking, no extra embellishment needed. For a bride who wants to feel like she stepped out of a painting, this is the trend to explore.

There are so many amazing options in this category, it’s hart to pick favorites, but [*Rachel*](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/rachel/) is near the top! New arrivals include* Selena* and *Moonlight J7001*.

##### **Strapless Gets a Y2K Glow-Up**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Strapless.avif)

Strapless is back in the spotlight, and she brought some early-2000s nostalgia along for the ride. At Bridal Market 2026, strapless gowns were having a full moment, styled and constructed with a fresh confidence that felt both current and a little nostalgic in the best possible way.

The Y2K influence is subtle but real. There’s a celebration of the strapless silhouette that stands out on its own, and an attitude that says this is THE gown. Think structured bodices with a sleek straight neckline, combined with skirts that flow, sculpt, or billow depending on the vibe you want.

Bare shoulders are having their moment, and strapless is leading the way. If you have been dreaming of a gown that puts your shoulders, collarbone, and neckline front and center, 2026 is your year.

A few leaders in this nostalgic strapless category are [*Cedes*](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/cedes/), [*Demmi*](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/demmi/), and [*Pinella*](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/pinella/)*.*

##### **The Drop Waist Makes Its Return**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Drop-Waist.avif)

Here is a trend that the fashion world has been quietly circling back to, and Bridal Market 2026 confirmed it: the drop waist is officially back. This sleek, elongating silhouette sits lower on the hip than a natural waist, creating a long, lean line through the torso before the skirt begins.

The drop waist has a sophisticated, almost sculptural quality to it. It is a silhouette that rewards excellent tailoring and looks extraordinary on a range of figures. Designers at the market were playing with it in exciting ways — pairing drop waists with full skirts for unexpected drama, and with slim column skirts for a sleek, statuesque look.

This is a trend for the bride who appreciates a strong, intentional line and the architecture of the flawless bodice. Understated and elegant, the drop waist makes the entire gown look like it was designed with absolute purpose.

Our TWDettes are excited to introduce *Seraphina* to the drop waist collection! Other favorites are [*Charli*](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/charli/) and [*Gwenny*](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/gwenny/).

##### **Rouching Is Coming Back in a Royal Way**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Rouching.avif)

We want to take a moment to talk about rouching, because it deserves some serious attention. Gathered, draped fabric is making a serious comeback in bridal, and Bridal Market 2026 showcased why it has always been a beloved technique in couture design.

Here is the thing about rouching that every bride needs to hear: it is one of those details that looks incredible on the body, and downright blah on the hanger. We know. It can be hard to see past the gathered fabric when a gown is on a rack or in a photo. But rouching isn’t meant to be flat and still. It is all about form and motion. It skims, it sculpts, it creates soft shadows and curves in all the right places. Rouching is the gown detail that is working hardest for you, and making you look gorgeously effortless.

Designers are using rouching in creative, updated ways. Using rouched tulle across a neckline and layered over a structured bodice. Rouching panels of satin throughout a skirt to add texture. Layers of rouched fabric to create shape and flattery without structure or boning, which means it also tends to be exceptionally comfortable to wear. If a gown with rouching catches your eye during your TWD appointment, trust the process and try it on. You will understand immediately what all the fuss is about.

[Casyn](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/casyn/) is a favorite rouched gown and we have two more new arrivals at the boutique, *Essence D4484* and *D4607!*

#### The Aisle Edit: Fresh Off Bridal Market + Into Our Boutique

Twice a year, the bridal fashion world comes alive in Chicago for National Bridal Market.  We’re thrilled to take you along the journey! This event brings together a variety of designers, stunning new collections, and the latest trends that will shape the upcoming bridal season. Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at our time at Bridal Market this season and get a first glimpse at the gorgeous gowns and inspiring styles soon to arrive in our salon.

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Template-for-Blog.avif)

###### A little more about market

Bridal Market is an incredible opportunity for bridal salons to connect with many, if not all, of the designers they carry in one place. During this event, designers showcase their newest collections before they officially hit bridal shops, giving us an exclusive first look at upcoming trends.

Beyond the gorgeous gowns (and yes, the snacks and drinks!), we love Bridal Market because it allows us to see and feel the dresses in person, understand the craftsmanship behind each piece, and discover new and emerging designers who might be a perfect fit for our store.

Designers from around the world gather to share their inspiration and vision, making it a truly immersive experience — from accessories to gowns to flower girl dresses and everything in between. It’s a celebration of all things bridal and one of our favorite times of the year.

###### What’s trending?

The **basque waist** is making a major comeback. Defined by a waistline that dips to a point at the center, this silhouette elongates the torso and creates the illusion of a smaller waist. Thanks to shows like *Bridgerton*, this romantic style is everywhere — especially in bridal fashion. Often paired with a corset back, the basque waist blends vintage elegance with modern femininity, making it a standout detail on runways and wedding aisles alike.

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Template-for-Blog-Basque-Waist.avif)

The **dropped waist** is another key look spotted at Bridal Market. Instead of sitting at the natural waistline, this silhouette falls lower on the body, closer to the hips, creating an effortlessly elongated shape. Most often seen in sleek, minimal fabrics, it can also be designed in lace for a softer, romantic vibe.

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Template-for-Blog-1.avif)

The **strapless neckline** is a classic that never truly goes out of style and it’s making a comeback this season. Thanks to the expert structure and boning built into bridal gowns, modern strapless designs offer timeless elegance with a secure, flawless fit. When altered properly, brides can enjoy this romantic, clean-lined silhouette without worry!

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Template-for-Blog-2.avif)

Beyond the standout trends, a few honorable mentions are also making waves this season. Brides are loving **faux two-piece gowns**, the delicate romance of **Chantilly lace**, and **clean, timeless silhouettes** that never fade from fashion. For a modern twist, some brides are even **accessorizing with neck scarves**, adding a touch of personality and effortless elegance.

Gwenny is for the bride who wants to feel like royalty while keeping her look sophisticated and refined.

##### **Sculpted Glamour: A1351***** (Coming Soon!)***

![A1351](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/A1351.avif)

This stunning sheath is joining our collection soon, and we are counting down the days. A1351 features a strapless bodice with a subtle Basque waist and exposed boning for a sculpted, modern fit that is absolutely on-trend. Sequin lace appliques layer over delicate Chantilly lace, creating a shimmering depth and texture that is mesmerizing up close. The combination of structure and sparkle makes this gown a standout for the bride who loves a fitted silhouette with serious fashion credentials. Watch this space—you’ll want to be first in line to try this one on.

##### **Dance Floor Darling: Isabelle (A1361)**

![Isabelle](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Isabelle.avif)

Isabelle was made to move. This romantic A-line gown features a layered tulle skirt that needs to twirl across the dance floor. The plunging V-neckline adds a touch of modern daring, while the bias handkerchief hem is fun and flirty. Lace appliques and tonal beading shimmer across the bodice and spill down onto the tulle skirt. The pearl-trimmed waistline is the perfect finishing detail, adding a soft, polished glow. Isabelle is playful, romantic, and effortlessly glamorous—a dress that brings the party energy from the ceremony to the last dance.

##### **Vintage Meets Modern: Cedes (A1362)**

Sculpted in luminous Mikado, this fit-and-flare gown features a distinctive cat-eye neckline that gives a subtle nod to vintage glamour. The strapless bodice is embellished with sequin lace appliques that catch every flicker of light, and the detachable lace drop sleeve (included with the gown) adds a romantic, versatile touch. ![Lilia](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Lilia.avif)

Lilia is a gorgeous blend of drama and softness. The bold lace bodice pairs beautifully with a flowing chiffon skirt that moves like a dream. A sculpted basque waist, a hot trend last year that just keeps heating up, adds a flattering definition. The chiffon skirt parts reveal a front slit that brings just the right amount of modern edge. And the detachable chiffon sleeves? They add a layer of romantic, ethereal volume that transforms this dress from stunning to absolutely breathtaking. Lilia is for the bride who wants texture, movement, and a gown that tells a story with every step.

The result is a figure-skimming silhouette with gorgeous detail. The deep sweetheart neckline is sensual, classic and flattering. This ensemble is flattering to every shape, and Allure even offers separate drop sleeves for a little extra customization. Whether you’re dressing for a rooftop cocktail reception or a grand ballroom affair, Shelbi adapts to the moment. Versatile, polished, and undeniably elegant.

##### **Modern Minimalism with a Wink: Camia (A1216)**

And then, the coup de grâce: an oversized, chicly feminine bow at the train that takes this minimalist stunner to a whole new level. The bow trend is still blazing, and Camia elevates it to modernist perfection. For the bride who loves clean, modern design with a playful twist, this dress is your perfect match.

##### **Dawn Radiance: Sheryl **

![Sheryl](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Sheryl.avif)

A satin sensation! This gown pairs the trending features of a square neckline and Basque bodice with a flattering scooped back and crisp vertical seams. ##### **Daylight reflection: Selena **

![Selena](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Selena.avif)

Lustrous single-shade brocade gives this mermaid gown added dimension. The curve skimming silhouette and plunging sweetheart neckline of Selena are chic and sensual. The details, illusion at the neckline, buttons down the entire skirt, and detachable shoulder straps that can be tied into trend-forward bows (but don’t have to be if you aren’t a “bow person”), add that little something extra to elevate this gown. This gown is for the bride who seeks that clean and classic vibe, but with just a little something extra.

##### **Dropped Waist Sheen: Seraphina**

![Seraphina](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Seraphina.avif)

This sweeping satin gown is an instant classic that is hitting on the latest trend in bridal – the dropped waist. The full sweeping skirt gathered at the elongated drop waist bodice is a graceful contemporary twist on the strapless gown.  Decorative buttons trail down from the bodice across the train, adding a touch of detail to this serene, sweeping shape. Seraphina is made for the bride who loves minimalism and isn’t afraid to show off her curves.

##### **Dewdrop glimmer: Samantha**

![Samantha](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Samantha.avif)

This gown is delightful and is perfect for the bride who embraces the joy and glow in every moment.

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Suki-1.avif)

Sophistication in every stitch, this mermaid gown is modern, contemporary, and classic. The Butter Mikado is a rich fabric that elevates the design. Suki’s pleated bodice wraps smoothly into a sweetheart neckline and dips into a trending Basque waist. The skirt is shaped by curved seams that skim curves and then flare out into a pooling chapel train. Suki is ideal for a bride who loves that timeless and classic look.

##### **Dazzling reflections: Sienna **

![Sienna](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Sienna.avif)

This off-shoulder gown with detachable wide draped straps is absolutely dazzling. Shimmering sequin lace reflects and scatters light all around, while 3D floral appliqué on the bodice, adds facets of softness to this brilliant gown. The deeply plunging sweetheart neckline is fresh and contemporary, with the overall silhouette embracing the elegant and romantic. It may be getting cold outside, but that also means it’s your time of year, winter signs! Your birthdays may have to share the spotlight with the holiday season, but we’re here to help you shine brighter than any string of twinkle lights. Whether you’re a **practical and ambitious Capricorn**, an **independent and innovative Aquarius**, or a **creative and romantic Pisces**, we’ve curated bridal inspiration that captures your essence and elevates your big day.

Below, discover the wedding gown style that best matches your winter zodiac energy—because you deserve a dress that celebrates *you*.

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Winter-Zodiac-header.png)

#### Capricorn Sign

Capricorns are known for being loyal, responsible, and hardworking. You value family and tradition, and you tend not to show your emotions right away—at least not until you truly trust someone. During your bridal appointment, you might not have the dramatic emotional response often shown in TV shows or movies (totally normal, by the way!). Instead, you’re more likely to focus on how well the gown functions for your wedding day and lean on your inner circle when making your decision.

**So, what does this mean for your bridal style?**

You prioritize functionality and practicality while staying true to a timeless, classic aesthetic. You want a gown that feels elegant, moves easily, and supports every moment—not one that requires constant fussing.

**Your Perfect Pick: Jo by Allure Bridals**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Winter-Zodiac-JO.png)

Meet *Jo*: the embodiment of simple elegance. Crafted from stretch satin, this gown offers the perfect balance of structure and comfort—giving it that iconic, timeless look while still allowing you to walk, move, and dance freely.

The train is beautifully designed yet incredibly easy to bustle, meaning you won’t spend precious time managing it throughout the day. The details are stunning but understated—letting *you* take center stage as you walk down the aisle.

**Classic. Functional. Effortlessly refined.**

#### Aquarius Sign

Aquarius brides are known for being independent, innovative, and refreshingly original. You value authenticity above all else and tend to approach life—and love—from a unique, forward-thinking perspective. In your bridal appointment, you may not react with the traditional “bridal moments” people expect, but that’s simply because you’re busy analyzing the details that matter to *you*: individuality, comfort, and how the gown reflects your personal vision rather than tradition.

**So, what does this mean for your bridal style?**

You’re drawn to designs that feel modern, unexpected, and slightly unconventional. You’re not afraid to experiment with clean lines, bold elements, or architectural touches. Above all, you want a gown that sparks your creativity and sets you apart in a way that feels effortlessly authentic.

**Your Perfect Pick: Hadyn by Essense of Australia**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Winter-Zodia-Hadyn.png)

Meet *Hadyn*: a satin gown that channels old Hollywood glamour for the modern bride. Its detachable off-the-shoulder shawl offers effortless versatility, allowing you to shift your look from classic to contemporary in an instant. Architectural boning and a sculpted neckline highlight an hourglass silhouette, while an optional slit lets you choose between a bold moment or a sleek, streamlined skirt.

**Fresh. Modern. Unapologetically unique.**

#### Pisces Sign

Pisces brides are known for being creative, intuitive, and deeply romantic. You feel the world through emotion and imagination, often picturing your wedding day long before it arrives. In your bridal appointment, you may respond more to the *feeling* of a gown than its technical details—letting your heart guide you as much as your eyes. You’re drawn to anything that sparkles with magic, softness, or a touch of whimsy.

**So, what does this mean for your bridal style?**

You’re captivated by gowns that feel ethereal and poetic—flowing fabrics, delicate details, and silhouettes that seem to float with you. Textures like tulle, lace, and soft shimmer speak to your dreamy nature. Above all, you want a gown that makes you feel swept up in the moment, like you’re stepping into your own romantic fairytale.

**Your Perfect Pick: Rayna by Lillian West**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Winter-Zodiac-Rayna.png)

Meet *Rayna*: a tulle-and-lace gown that embodies the soft, enchanting romance Pisces brides adore. Its blooming 3D lace and airy layers of tulle create an effortless movement, allowing the gown to feel both whimsical and refined. A romantic sweetheart neckline and subtle beading add just the right touch of shimmer, while the organic placement of the lace lends a dreamy, ethereal finish. Rayna feels weightless, poetic, and perfectly in tune with your imaginative heart.

**Dreamy. Whimsical. Emotionally captivating.**

Summer weddings are magical—filled with golden light, blooming florals, and an unmistakable sense of romance. But if you’re planning your big day and feeling overwhelmed by choices, why not look to the stars for inspiration? Whether you’re a passionate Leo, a reliable Virgo, or a nurturing Cancer, your zodiac sign holds clues to your personal style—and that includes your dream wedding dress.

In this guide, we’ll match each summer zodiac sign with a wedding dress style that captures your unique energy, vibe, and celestial flair. Get ready to walk down the aisle in a look that’s written in the stars.

#### Cancer Sign

Cancer signs are known for their nurturing and empathetic personalities who love a sentimental touch. You are caretakers by nature and want to make everyone in the room feel seen and appreciated. You will most likely let everyone’s opinions be heard during your bridal appointment and accommodate whoever would like to join you as your entourage.

So, what does this mean for your bridal style?

You most likely prioritize comfort and do not mind a little bit of vintage vibes or an artistic flair. Check out our dress by Allure Bridal named Coraline:

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Coraline-Image-for-Blog.avif)

Coraline is a sheath gown with a cool touch stretch lining that is sure to provide the comfort you are seeking in a fitted gown. The linear lace highlights your curves while the off-the-shoulder and champagne undertone brings a vintage vibe.

#### Leo Sign

Leo signs are known to be a loyal and confident in themselves who do not mind a little drama. You are often trying to unite a group and are protective of your loved ones. Within your bridal appointment you might find that you make it clear who’s opinion matters the most (even if it is your own).

Let’s see what this means for your bridal style!

You are not afraid to be the center of attention but also are drawn to more warm-toned garments. You most likely will not wear white and are truly looking for a show-stopper. Check out our dress Nikola by Allure Bridals:

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Nikola-Image-for-Blog.avif)

Nikola is a metallic brocade that brings a warm tone to the entire dress while the slit provides a touch of sexiness. The dramatic neckline has some edge and it certainly will be hard to miss you coming in this gown.

#### Virgo Sign

As a Virgo you are known to be analytical and meticulous. Your attention to detail will definitely impact how you wedding dress shop and your practical nature may lead you to take venue, season, and budget more into consideration than other brides. While shopping, honesty both from your stylist and entourage will be of value to you and you will be able to give feedback on your likes and dislikes through the process.

So how does this translate into your choice of wedding dress?

A more simplistic gown with intentional seaming may be the right direction for you! Classic wedding dresses are easily personalized to fit your vibe and also leave less lace or beading to be out of place. Check out our gown Kirah by Allure Romance:

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Kirah-Image-for-Blog.avif)

Kirah is a dress that is going to look great no matter where or when you are getting married. It is clean and classic and will photograph well from every angle. Budget friendly, timeless, and elegant, Kirah will definitely fit your Virgo vibe.

#### **On June 21st, TWD is getting countrified! Join us during the festival to celebrate a fashion icon, philanthropist, and the queen of country music herself, Dolly Parton! **

Cowboy boots, Stetsons, fringe, guitars, fiddles, and barbecue; nope, we’re not in Nashville, it’s Brighton’s Country Boots & Beats Festival. On June 21, 2025 TWD is joining the countrified fun as a little slice of Dollywood right here in Michigan. You’ll get a discount for dressing in a country style, and for every purchase at TWD we’re donating to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, her charity that supports literacy by giving free books to children! We can’t wait to put on our boots and welcome our gorgeous brides-to-be into our boutique during the festival.

###### **Here’s the “straight talk” on the details of the event:**

- Wear your cowboy boots, Stetson, and/or fringe – “Why’d you come in here lookin’ like that?” To get 10% off your dress order, of course!
- For every purchase, we donate to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library – and “there’s more where that came from” because you can purchase accessories, too!
- Say ‘yes’ to your dress and then head back “downtown” to celebrate!

We’re working 11 to 5 (bless your heart, we’re not going to open early just to match Dolly’s song) that Saturday, [so book your visit while we still have openings](https://the-white-dress.com/schedule-appointment)!

Here are some Dolly Parton inspired dresses that we’re “head over high heels” for! Just like Dolly, these five spectacular gowns celebrate authenticity, glamour, and the art of being unapologetically yourself on your wedding day.

##### **Jurie: “Love is like a Butterfly” (1974) **

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/1-Jurie.png)

Channel your inner country goddess with [Jurie](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/jurie/), an absolutely stunning Lillian West masterpiece. The intricate lace appliqués continue from the bodice to the detachable sheer illusion sleeves with a botanical pattern that’s both romantic and artistic. The fitted silhouette hugs your curves like Dolly’s soft and tender love song, while the dramatic train ensures your grand entrance will be unforgettable. The deep V-neckline adds a touch of sensuality, perfectly balanced by the gown’s elegance. This dress is for the bride who appreciates fine craftsmanship and wants to feel divine.

**Perfect for:** Formal ceremonies, ballroom receptions, and brides who love vintage-inspired elegance.

##### **Mattie: “Light of A Clear Blue Morning” (1977) **

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/2-Mattie.png)

[Mattie](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/mattie/), a show-stopping gown from Adore by Justin Alexander, is absolutely dripping in crystalline sparkle that ensures you’ll glitter like the radiant bride you are. The gown is made of sheer, flowing tulle with detachable jersey lining, delicate spaghetti straps and a romantic sweetheart neckline. The entire dress, from bodice to hem, is masterpiece of beadwork and sequins that catch and refract glorious twinkling light. This dress embodies Dolly in her golden era — luminous, independent, and on the verge of superstardom.

Perfect for: Artsy receptions, lavish elopements, and daring brides who want to shine like the light of a new day dawning.

##### **Oko: “Here You Come Again” (1977) **

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/3-Oko.png)

Sometimes the most powerful statement is the quietest one—and [Oko](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/oko/), a sleek beaded gown by Lis Simon, proves that elegance speaks volumes. The clean lines and figure-hugging silhouette with the incredible allover beading create a modern masterpiece that is utterly captivating, making hearts skip a beat with every step down the aisle. The subtle draped neckline and shimmer of hundreds of luminous beads create a luxurious glamour without overwhelming the sophisticated design. This dress is for the bride who embrace’s Dolly’s belief that true beauty comes from confidence and authenticity, that you need to “find out who you are and do it on purpose.”

Perfect for: Modern venues, luxe intimate ceremonies, and anyone who embraces Dolly’s love of allover, intricate beading.

##### **Jenny: “Baby I’m Burnin’” (1978) **

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/4-Jenny.png)

[Jenny](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/jenny/), a playful mini dress by Heirloom Bridal, is pure Dolly energy with its sparkling sequined fabric and dramatic puff sleeves that say “I’m here to celebrate!” The sweetheart bodice with its corset-style detailing creates a figure-flattering silhouette that’s both flirty and sophisticated. The voluminous tulle skirt fans the flames for just the right amount of drama, while the silvery allover sequins keep things bright and fresh. This dress is perfect for the bride who wants to dance the night away without worrying about stepping on her train.

Perfect for: Reception dress changes, courthouse ceremonies, or any bride who wants to party in style.

##### **Calliope, “Wildflowers” (1988) **

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/5-Calliope.png)

[Calliope](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/calliope/) is a dreamy, enchanting Lillian West A-line gown that embodies Dolly’s beloved song about mountain wildflowers. The flowing lines and untamed grace of this dress echo the beauty of nature, and, as Dolly can attest, a sheer illusion neckline, lace, and beading are always fashion forward! Calliope features intricately detailed lace bodice with delicate cap sleeves and a sweetheart neckline. The subtle beadwork catches the light beautifully, ensuring you’ll sparkle from every angle like morning dew on petals.

**Perfect for:** Garden ceremonies, outdoor receptions, and brides who want to feel like a queen at a splendid garden party.

##### **Join us June 21****st**** to celebrate love, literacy, and Dolly Parton!**

Just like Dolly herself, each of these gowns celebrates a different facet of (bridal) fashion and personal style. Whether you’re drawn to sparkling glamour, romantic lace, or sleek sophistication, remember that the perfect wedding dress is the one that makes you feel most authentically yourself.

We’re looking forward to seeing you on June 21st for Brighton’s Country Boots & Beats Festival so you can and say “yes” to your ideal dress while supporting a wonderful cause. Okay, country queens, it’s time to grab your cowboy boots, throw on that fringed jacket, and create some bridal magic together – Dolly style!

Lis Simon is also selective of the bridal boutiques they work with, choosing their retail partners with as much care and attention as we put into selecting our designers. The White Dress is a very proud partner of Lis Simon and the only retailer of the brand in Michigan.

Lis Simon is a woman-owned, wife and husband founded company from Alberta, Canada headquartered in the beautiful prairie city of Calgary.  Lis Simon specializes in creating entirely customizable designs that gives brides the ultimate flexibility in how their ideal dress is perfectly crafted to suit their desires. Lis Simon creates dresses for the modern, stylish, independent bride. “We believe that quality should always be the foundation of our line, and style should always compliment the bride,” the brand shared. “It’s our bride that really brings our wedding dresses to life.” We couldn’t agree more!

Intrigued? We hope so! Here are a few fantastic gowns that showcase the stunning designs from Lis Simon that you can experience first-hand at TWD!

##### **Trending and Timeless: Rachel **

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/1-Rachel.png)

Everything about Rachel is at the forefront of bridal fashion right now; the rich subtle jacquard, the scooped neckline on the modern strapless bodice, and the oh-so-hot Basque waist. And yet the brilliant ivory color, clean lines, flattering cut, and button-accented chapel train are as timeless as can be. This gown is a sophisticated take on the hottest trends and an updated classic that will stay current, like the sweet and smokey voice of Shania Twain singing “You’re still the one that I love, the only one I dream of, you’re still the one I kiss goodnight.”

##### **Flowing and Fabulous: Paige**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/2-Paige.png)

Fun, flattering, and a little flirty, Paige has chart topping potential. Glorious organza creates a sweeping skirt that pours down from the structured boning of the bodice. The draped crepe neckline with understated spaghetti straps is a beautiful look for all figures. This dress needs to be dancing, like the lively harmonies of Tegan and Sara, “all I want to get is, a little bit closer, All I want to know is, can you come a little closer?”

##### **Delighting and Delicate: Rosalie**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/3-Rosalie.png)

Rosalie is a dreamy, enchanting, unique gown that has royalty vibes. This dress combines subtle allover lace with an intricate, beaded, cherry blossom applique that adorns the strapless bodice spills over onto the skirt and trails down the detachable tulle train. The rich textures are perfectly complimented by pairing the structured silhouette of the gown with the gossamer floating train. We can see a bride in this dress swaying on the dancefloor to Anne Murray crooning “when we’re together, it feels so right, could I have this dance for the rest of my life?”

##### **Shimmering and Splendid: Ryan **

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/4.png)

Pearls and sequins cover every inch of this absolutely superb gown. The sheath style dress has a structured bodice with a oh-so-subtle sweetheart neckline and a chapel train that flows out in a iridescent pool behind the bride. Ryan is flattering to every shape, the plus size model is wearing the popular and trending ivory color, while the small size model is shown wearing the darker champagne color.  This dress is classy, unique, and mesmerizing, like Sarah Harmer’s voice as she sings “Is it obvious? Does it show? With thoughts of you I am aglow.”

##### **Captivating and Classic: Priscilla**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/5-Priscila.png)

Clean lines and the perfect silhouette are the focus of this lovely gown. Featuring a trending off shoulder bodice, figure flattering asymmetrical wrap detail, and a chapel train, you simply cannot go wrong with Priscilla. And just like you can’t talk about a Canadian Classic without mentioning Joni Mitchell, Priscilla is set to be the dress that comes to mind when you think of a Lis Simon Classic. “I wanna have fun, wanna shine like the sun, wanna be the one that you wanna see.”

Our Collection from Lis Simon is an essential part of our remarkable selection of dresses. We hope you will be inspired to explore Lis Simon dresses and experience the quality, beauty, and excellence for yourself.

We’d love to introduce you to our TWD-etts and give you a chance to explore these dresses and others from our collection. Looking a photos is a good place to start, but experiencing the gowns in person is critical for making the best decision to find ‘the one’, [so book your bridal appointment with us](https://the-white-dress.com/schedule-appointment) to see what we’re talking about.

### Girl, the Tariffs: Updating you on dress price impact and our tariff-free sample sale
- **URL:** https://the-white-dress.com/blog/dress-price-impact-and-our-tariff-free-sample-sale/
- **Description:** Our lovely brides-to-be need all the details so that you can find your ideal dress within your budget. Here’s what you need to know about the impact of tariffs...
- **Image:** https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/TWD_tariffs_blog.jpg

#### **Our lovely brides-to-be need all the details so that you can find your ideal dress within your budget. Here’s what you need to know about the impact of tariffs on the cost of wedding dresses.**

Planning your big day is so exciting! From the “yes!” to the “I do!” there is so much to figure out. Deciding on a budget and figuring out what price point you are looking for is an important step in deciding on everything from the size of the wedding, the location, and, of course, your dress. There are many factors that affect the cost of buying your ideal dress. And yes, one of those factors is the tariffs.

In this article we’re going to break down the cost areas and give you all the details on what to expect as you begin your search for the perfect gown.

##### **Designer**

Every designer has a price range for the majority of their dresses. At TWD we specialize in quality, high-end designer dresses that meet a range of price points. Here’s what to expect from our designer collection:

- **Allure Romance** $1,300–$1,800

  - Soft, romantic designs at the lower end of Allure’s pricing
- **Adore by Justin Alexander** $1,200–$1,800

  - Contemporary budget-friendly line
- **LillianWest** $1,500–$2,400

  - Boho-chic designs by Justin Alexander at a wide variety of price points
- **Allure Bridal** $1,400–$2,400

  - Modern silhouettes & trending gowns at a mid-range price point
- **Abella** $1,500–$2,300

  - European-inspired capsule collection by Allure
- **Essence of Australia/Stella York **$1,200–$3,000

  -  Trendy, embellished designs
- **Lis Simon **$1,500–$3,000

  - Premium contemporary designer with completely customizable gowns

As you think about your style, wedding aesthetic, and budget, it’s a great idea to explore gowns by a few designers to get an idea of what you like at your preferred price point. A great place to start is browsing TWD’s [Lookbook](https://the-white-dress.com/wedding-dresses/).

##### **Customization**

When you place your dress order, all the details are sent to the manufacturer to create your specific gown. Every designer has different options for customization, but every change you request from a standard pattern can increase costs.

For some designers, such as Lis Simon, customization is an expected part of the dress order process, and the higher introductory price point reflects these expected couture features. For other designers, such as Essence of Australia, prices can rise rapidly with any additions or changes made to a standard design.

Whatever your price point, make sure you plan in all the costs associated with customization and alteration that you will need to ensure your ideal dress is the perfect fit for your big day.

##### **Tariffs**

Our designers have been paying varying levels of tariff costs to create dresses since 2017. However, the recent tariff increases have pushed these costs up by 150%. Even though some countries that supply the garment industry, such as Myanmar and Vietnam, have had increases paused for the moment, tariffs for China (the country with the longest history of incredible fabric creations and the largest wedding dress supplier to the US) are still at the highest level.

##### **TWD Tariff Costs**

In order to be fair to our designers and to our brides, TWD has implemented a policy of charging a flat $200 tariff fee on all new dress orders, except for Lis Simon dresses which have only a $150 tariff fee.

Just like everyone right now, we have no idea how long these high tariffs will last. We hope that the tariff amount will decrease over time, but we don’t have a working crystal ball to check the future (if we did, we’d totally help you pick the perfect date for your big day). **But we want to be clear, if we don’t end up paying a tariff on your dress, we will refund your fee.**

##### **Sample Sales: A No Tariff Option**

TWD Sample Sales have always been a good option to score a beautiful designer gown at a great price, and as an added bonus, there are no tariff fees on these dresses! BUT, before you go running for the sale rack, you need to understand what a sample sale is and what to expect.

- First, a “sample” is the dress that has been at the boutique for our fabulous brides-to-be to try on. Sample gowns that are for sale are only a fraction of the options available to you from TWD—there are more silhouettes, fabric types, styles and designer options through our full collection.
- Second, sample dresses have been tried on. This means that there is a little bit of wear and tear that happens during the trying-on process. We’re not going to put a gown up for sale that is in bad condition, but most of these dresses will need to be cleaned and have a few minor repairs made. Our TWD-ettes are happy to help you make these arrangements!
- Third, sample gowns are in a relatively narrow size range. At TWD we typically stock a bridal size 10 (which is about a standard size 6) to 16 (standard 12) and we typically stock plus sizes in 22-28 range. Sample dresses usually have a bodice designed for a bra cup size B/C (unless they are in our plus size collection where the cup size is larger), and the standard length of a gown is for someone standing between 5′ and 5’10”, taller or shorter brides will struggle with the proportions.
- Fourth, bridal gowns can typically be tailored **down** 2-3 sizes, however they are much more difficult to go **up** in size. Although TWD does stock more inclusive sample sizes than many bridal boutiques, there is usually only one size of any gown you can purchase out of the sample sale.
- Finally, gowns from our sample sale are an up-front purchase on a first-come, first-serve basis. We can’t hold them for you to think it over and come back.

If you are thinking about taking the leap to snap up one of our Sample Sale Gowns, make sure you bring your maid of honor or any other essential loved one whom you need to be in the room with you before you are ready to commit to your dress. Sample Sales are a love-at-first sight situation! You’ll need to be prepared to buy if you find THE gown and can’t stand the idea of walking away from it.

##### **Visiting The White Dress**

Whether you are interested in selecting a gown that is made-to-order or you want to purchase from our Sample Sale, the first step [is to book an appointment at our boutique](https://the-white-dress.com/schedule-appointment) in Brighton. Our fantastic TWD-ette’s will help you through every step of the process. We want your bridal experience to be all about the joy of finding your ideal dress, instead of stressing about the details. We are happy to answer your questions and get you all the information you need to pick out THE gown, whether it ships across an ocean or comes off the Sample Sale rack.

Every sign brings its own cosmic signature to fashion and bridal style. We can’t wait to showcase our incredible collection of dresses tailored to your sign’s energy and personality.

Here at TWD, we’re so happy that signs of spring are finally showing up in Michigan (even if it *is *between snow flurries). The Zodiac calendar starts with the arrival of spring, leading with the signs Aries (March 21-April 19), Taurus (April 20-May 20), and Gemini (May 21-June 20).

Whether you’re still deciding on your ideal bridal aesthetic or if you already have a clear idea of your style, anyone can benefit from some star-aligned inspiration. From daring Aries, to elegant Taurus, to trendy Gemini, we have something to excite every spring-sign bride in TWD’s collection of gowns.

Here are our top picks for each sign!

##### **The Aries Bride**

Element: Fire

Bridal Vibe: Fashion-Forward, Bold and Intense

Aries brides aren’t just walking down the aisle — they’re making an entrance. Ruled by fierce Mars and born to stand out, Aries is incapable of basic. Think fashion forward with an edge: a dramatic high slit, sculptural details, or a plunging neckline (or why not all three?!?). Aries isn’t afraid to wear intense colors on her big day, whether it’s a lipstick, shoe, or full-on gown moment.

Since Aries rules the head, meaning face and hair, an ideal gown needs to complement this bride’s next-level glam. Big curls and smokey eyes, an intricate updo and metallic eyeliner, or a perfect blowout and red lip, whatever the look, it’s a going to be stunning. Statement accessories are non-negotiable. Oversized earrings, metallic shoes, or bold headpieces will put all eyes on them — exactly where they belong.

Don’t expect a quiet garden wedding either. This bride wants a dance floor that doesn’t quit and an afterparty that keeps going until the honeymoon flight. Aries is not here for subtle— she’s here to be unforgettable.

###### **Camry – Structural Sheath with Dramatic Detail**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/1-Camry.png)

Sleek, chic, and architectural, [Camry](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/camry-2/) plays up the strapless bodice with structured wrap detail for a modern take on the classic sheath. Add the oversized detachable train to amp up the energy, and this Allure Romance gown is ready for the Aries bride.

###### **Sirius – Bold Ballgown with Dark Highlights**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/2-Sirius.png)

Daring to defy tradition,[Sirius](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/sirius/) is intensely beautiful. This Abella dress is darkly romantic with black tulle and lace that pools out into a sweeping chapel train. This gown is a complete showstopper, just the way Aries likes them.

###### **Nikolai – Audacious A-Line with Big Presence**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/3-Nikolai.png)

Dramatic high slit, off shoulder, a plunging sweetheart neckline, and the statement train of all trains, this Allure Bridal gown is no wallflower. Aries will love the reimagined-classic that takes the A-line dress to the next level with a big, bold, sweeping presence.[Nikolai](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/nikolai/) is a confident queen.

##### **The Taurus Bride**

Element: Earth

Bridal Vibe: Luxe, Romantic, and Sophisticated

Taurus is the embodiment of bridal elegance. Ruled by Venus, these brides need decadence, romance, and a flawless aesthetic. Their dream wedding? A perfectly curated affair with garden roses, string quartets, and champagne flowing all night. The ideal gown is a timeless silhouette that complements her figure in warm whites, antique ivory, or even a soft blush if she’s feeling like pushing back on tradition. But make no mistake: quality and comfort are non-negotiable.

An earth sign, these brides will seek out a dress with an organic feel, like botanical lace, lavish shantung, or rich Mikado, and their neckline game is strong. Whether it’s a romantic off-the-shoulder, a chic strapless scoop, or a sleek turtleneck moment (à la Audrey Hepburn), Taurus knows how to dress the throat — their signature zone.

This bride’s special day is an elegant, luxurious celebration— just how she likes it. Taurus is not just planning a wedding; she’s creating a vibe you’ll want to last forever.

###### **Dina – Opulently Classic Allover Lace Gown**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/4-Dina.png)

The epitome of classic sophistication, [Dina](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/dina/) is pure clean lines crafted out of gorgeous lace. This Lillian West gown is luxurious, romantic and effortlessly organic. Absolutely magnetic for the Taurus bride.

###### **Flora – Decadently Sophisticated Basque-waist Ballgown**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/5-Flora.png)

Elevating the full skirt of a ballgown with sophisticated lines and rich pearlescent fabric, this Abella gown is pure luxury. [Flora](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/flora/)’s elegant Basque waist is figure flattering and the simplicity of the clean lines lets the quality of the design speak for itself in a perfectly Taurus way.

###### **Provence – Romantically Timeless A-line Gown**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/6-Provence.png)

With an understated silhouette and impeccable clean lines, [Provence](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/provence/) is still utterly romantic crafted from layers of lace and tulle. The mock turtleneck illusion lace bodice is rich, organically sensual, and without drama or excess. This Lis Simon gown is elegant and on point, just like Taurus.

##### **The Gemini Bride**

Element: Air

Bridal Vibe: Playful, Trendy, Unpredictably Cool

The Gemini bride is full of surprises — and so is her bridal look. These air signs aren’t married to tradition (pun intended). Instead, they’re mixing vintage with modern, elegant with edgy, and doing it all with a wink. Ruled by quick-witted Mercury, Gemini brings major personality to the altar— taking trends to the next level and making heads turn.

Versatility and customizability are Gemini love languages. These brides want to make the most out of bridal trends, mixing and matching to create the ultimate in cool. She’s a master accessorizer, too. Since Gemini rules the arms and hands, you’ll see plenty of rings, a dainty glove moment, or stacked bangles that jingle with every toast.

These social butterflies want weddings that flow like a great conversation: engaging, ever-changing, and with plenty of unexpected moments. A clever photo booth, a custom cocktail named after their pets, or a spontaneous karaoke breakout — totally their style.

With a playful spirit and trend-savvy eye, the Gemini bride doesn’t just embrace bridal fashion — she transforms it, one charming surprise at a time.

###### **Rachel – Three Hot Trends in One Classy Gown**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/7-Rachel.png)

Basque waist, jacquard, and a strapless bodice are three of the hottest trends in the bridal world right now, and[Rachel](https://the-white-dress.com/wedding-dresses/) has it all. Gemini brides will be happy to know that any Lis Simon gown is 100% customizable, giving this fashion-savvy sign allllll the options.

###### **Jennet – Big Bows and Bare Shoulders**

![](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/8-Jennet.png)

Allover lace, strapless, and an oversized bow? [Jennet](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/jennet/) is so hot right now! Throw...

#### Our crowdfunding event this summer raised enough funds for us to giveaway four dresses to our brides!

In July, we ran a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for our bridal boutique and to help keep our lovely TWD-ettes employed during the pandemic. We promised that for every $250 we raised we would be donating a bridal gown to a bride in need. Our event raised over $1000, meaning we were able to give away three dresses to brides who entered our contest!

We asked our brides to tell us stories about their engagement and the affect Covid-19 as had in their lives. The stories they shared are heartwarming, courageous, and inspiring. We’re so excited to share them with you!

##### 1. Jennifer Lee: bringing her bridal experience to family in Korea.

Jennifer met her fiancé, Christian, on the dating app Bumble and have been inseparable ever since. Christian popped the question in the middle of a rose garden while they were on a trip to Kansas City to stay with his brother and his wife.

![Jennifer Lee showing off her engagement ring with her fiancé, Christian](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Jennifer-Lee-2-1024x1024.jpg)

Jennifer’s heritage is Korean, and the coronavirus pandemic has disrupted many of her culture’s traditions surrounding proposals and engagements. And as Christian’s family is from Trinidad, this moment of their lives has been bittersweet, as they’ve navigated the joy of betrothal amidst the loss of the shared celebrations they might otherwise have had. Because of this, they are planning to hold second ceremony in Korea so that Jennifer’s relatives, and especially her grandmother, can be there with them.

![Jennifer and Christian together at an event.](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Jennifer-Lee-1-1024x1024.jpg)

Jennifer found her perfect dress while browsing our selection of gowns before the appointment. The moment she saw it, she knew she had to try it on.

> “As soon as I put the dress on, I instantly fell in love with the dress. It fit perfectly on me and knew that it was the ONE. I also knew my mom and my sister knew it was the one the moment I stepped out of the dressing room.”

We loved having Jennifer in our store, and where happy to help her find her dress. Jennifer said her favorite part about being in the store was “my stylist being the absolute best and bringing me all the dresses that I would’ve never picked out to try on and making everything go smoothly.”

##### 2. Tori Finazzi: high school sweethearts who have been together through thick and thin.

Tori’s submission came to us through a friend who knew her story and wanted her to win a dress. Tori and her fiancé, Jordan, have been together since middle school, and they already know what the words “in sickness and in health” mean from first-hand experience. For the last three years, Tori has been battling a tumor in her hip that has limited her mobility, interfered with work and school, and required multiple surgeries.

![Tori and Jordan together on a trip.](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Tori-2-1-768x1024.jpg)

Throughout it all, Jordan has been by her side, sometimes sleeping on a cot next to her couch to be with her after surgery. And despite her struggles, Tori recently completed her undergrad with degrees in both biology and psychology. Unfortunately, Jordan was laid off due to the Covid pandemic, and Tori has been working as a receptionist and medical assistant at a Covid testing center, despite her condition.

![Tori and Jordan pictured together on vacation.](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Tori-1-1024x681.jpeg)

We clearly felt this couple was deserving of a dress to help them through their difficulties, and we were so excited for Tori when she found her dress at our store:

> “I knew I had found the perfect dress for me when I could not stop smiling in it. I couldn’t stop touching the dress or keep my eyes off of it. I found something new I loved in it every time I looked at it. Plus, the look on the faces of my support I had brought with me just sealed the deal!”

As for her experience with us, Tori said, “Thanks to my TWD stylist, Meg, I had so much fun trying on so many beautiful dresses! Every time I think about my experience there I smile because I felt really loved and special that day.”

##### 3. Angela Rizzi: a Tinder love story come true!

Angela’s fiancé, Maciej, proposed while they were on a romantic holiday in Mexico back in March. By the time they returned to Michigan, the coronavirus pandemic had arrived in full force. As an ICU nurse practitioner, Angela was immediately deployed to work night shifts in a Covid unit. She contracted the virus and became sick, but was fortunate to experience a quick recovery that allowed her to get back to work.

![Angela and Maciej standing together in front of mountains.](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Maciej-and-I-2.jpg)

Unfortunately, as a new airline pilot, Maciej was put on furlough, adding stress to their wedding plans. Throughout it all, Angela has been determined to plan a beautiful wedding, without letting fears about Covid or their financial situation interfere with their big day. We were so happy we could relieve one pressure point by helping her find the perfect gown without needing to worry about the price tag!

When she came to our store, Angela knew she had found the perfect dress when she tried it on:

> “I did the walk to show my guests at the front of the store and when I came back to my fitting room, I stepped right back up on the pedestal and found myself staring into the mirror. I didn’t even realize what I did initially, but I felt really beautiful and did not want to take the dress off! My mom, sister, future sister-in-law and I all cried when I came out in this dress, which I honestly did not expect; however, I had a real bridal moment in this gown, confirming it was the perfect choice!”

![angela and maciej at a party](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Maciej-and-I-3.jpg)

As for her time in our store, we were so delighted to hear that Angela had a wonderful experience, despite the Covid requirements:

> “I wanted to take a minute to tell you about how thrilled I was with the entire White Dress experience. Even with all of the COVID restrictions, my guests and I were able to have a very memorable and fun time! All of the staff at TWD was great, but especially my consultant, Mary. She was truly WONDERFUL! I hope you know she is a gem!!”

(Yes, we do know, and we agree!)

##### Yes, our bridal boutique is open!

Many brides have been hesitant to search for their dress given the uncertainty of the pandemic. However, we want to reassure all our lovely brides that our store is taking every precaution to keep them and their loved ones safe. This has meant creating [new store policies](about:blank) for the pandemic, but by doing so, we have been able to keep our boutique open.

And, despite the uncertainty, now is actually a really good time to look for your wedding dress! It takes months for a wedding gown to be made, as each one is sewn specifically to the bride’s measurements. Brides who are hoping for a Covid-free wedding next summer, but are putting off buying a gown until the pandemic dies down, may not have enough time left to purchase a gown before their wedding. And, once conditions become safe for us all to resume to normal life, we expect a boom of brides booking appointments, which may make it difficult to reserve a slot.

So go ahead and book your place today! We would love to help you find your dream dress.

#### Our team has been to a few bridal markets in 2024, and here are the top four trends standing out so far.

If there’s anything I’ve noticed about bridal fashion from over a decade of owning a boutique, it’s that trends move quickly! Each year my team and I [attend industry bridal shows](https://the-white-dress.com/hot-styles-and-haute-gowns-trend-update-from-bridal-market-2025/) to shop the latest collections, and we’re always keeping our eye out for what’s new. So far, we’ve been to events in Charleston and Chicago, and we’ve been taking notes on all the latest fashion trends in the world of wedding dresses.

If you’re dress shopping this year, you probably want to know what to expect from the newest collections—and we have the tea! Below, I’ve picked out a few dresses that my team and I think are perfect examples of some of this year’s bridal fashion trends—but they’re far from the only ones that are on their way to us from designers.

The full collections are already starting to arrive, and we have plenty of options for you to look through. So if 2024’s styles match your vibe, pay us a visit and we’ll find the dress that’s truly *you.* In the meantime, you can get your mood board started with some of our favorites.

##### 1.    Clean and simple

![Philippa, featuring an illusion plunge and clean lines.](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Artboard-2TWD_kRISTY-1024x1024.jpg)

Sometimes, it can be refreshing to go back to fundamentals. Lots of the dresses we’ve seen so far this year are simple and striking, accentuating silky-smooth fabric with clean lines and subtle detailing. Against such a pristine background, little touches like creative seaming or a tiny row of beads make a big impact.

One of our favorites in this style is [Philippa](https://www.lissimon.com/2024-collection/philippa). The dramatic illusion plunge and vertical seams add shape to the sweep of crepe, and are mirrored on the back of the dress in the corset-style boning and long train of decorative buttons. It’s an elegant, timeless look that, paired with an updo and maybe some long gloves, is giving Old Hollywood.

##### 2.    Bishop sleeves

![Phoebe, featuring off-the-shoulder bishop sleeves and floral lace.](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Artboard-1TWD_kRISTY-1024x1024.jpg)

Have you, like Anne Shirley of Green Gables, always dreamed of puffed sleeves? You’re in luck this year! We’ve spied bishop sleeves in several 2024 collections so far, and we love their flowy, romantic look. And if you’d like to channel some [fashion-forward *Bridgerton* vibes](https://the-white-dress.com/how-to-choose-a-fandom-wedding-dress/) on your special day, look no further—bishop sleeves started gaining popularity in the 19th century, so you’re right on time.

Floaty, flowy [Phoebe](https://www.lissimon.com/2024-collection/phoebe) is the perfect showcase for this kind of good old-fashioned romance. The floral print—flowers are another thing we’ve seen quite a bit of this year!—is cozy and sweet, and the layers of light organza give her an ethereal look that the translucent bishop sleeves take to the next level. And if you get too warm in the sleeves—like, say, dancing at the reception—they’re detachable.

##### 3.    High necklines and modest styles

![Provence, featuring a high lace neckline and sleeves.](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Artboard-3TWD_kRISTY-1024x1024.jpg)

Bishop sleeves aren’t the only sleeve trend we’ve noticed. In fact, we’ve noticed more sleeves on dresses across the board, as well as higher necklines, too. This year’s dresses offer plenty of options for brides who prefer to cover up a little more, whether that’s for a chilly fall or winter wedding, for cultural or comfort reasons, or even just because it’s a look that speaks to you.

One dress that definitely speaks to us is [Provence](https://www.lissimon.com/2024-collection/provence). The sparkle tulle skirt is a frothy dream, balanced by the sleek and fitted bodice that’s neck-to-wrist lace. The bold floral lace appliqués that cover Provence fit with other bridal trends we’ve seen this year, too, adding texture and depth that contrast with the simplicity of the skirt.

##### 4.    Do both—separate looks for the wedding and reception

![Reese, a short number with off-the-shoulder straps.](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Artboard-4TWD_kRISTY_R-1024x1024.jpg)

Weddings are a lot of work. You should be able to have your cake and eat it, too. This year’s trends seem to agree: we’re seeing a lot more options for the dress *after *the dress, so you can cut loose at the reception while still feeling bridal. Two dresses? Why not. You make your own rules.

These reception dresses tend to be shorter and lighter, easier to move around in and—if you’re up for it—show a little more skin. They also reflect a lot of the same bridal trends we’ve been seeing in their full-length sisters. Take [Reese](https://www.heirloombridalcompany.com/products/copy-of-willow-dress), for example. The jacquard fabric gives it a clean, elegant look from a distance, but shows off its subtle floral details up close. Vertical seams stand out against the fabric, and paired with pleats and a basque waist give the impression of a corset—while still giving you plenty of room to move.

##### Trendy or timeless, your wedding dress is all about you.

Fashions come and go all the time. The latest trends can give us ideas and options, but at the end of the day, your dress is *yours* to choose. After all, you look your best when you’re happy—so at the end of the day, that’s the most important requirement for your dress!

That’s also why trying dresses on makes such a difference. Something that didn’t wow you in a picture online or even on the hanger might surprise you when you see it in the mirror—and you can’t fake that say-yes feeling. At The White Dress, we know that wedding dress shopping is almost as special as the day itself, and we’re here to help you find what you’re looking for. Come by our shop and see all the options—the very newest ones, and the classics. [Book an appointment](https://the-white-dress.com/schedule-appointment) with us today!

#### **We’ve returned from the 2025 Bridal Market with all the tea on the latest trends! **

National Bridal Market is the leading bridal tradeshow that takes place twice a year in Chicago. This gathering of designers, planners, retailers, and special-occasion professionals is a great place for trend-spotting. We returned from the March show full of inspiration and ideas for connecting you, our amazing brides-to-be, with perfectly suited, trend-forward dresses to fit any vibe or venue. Here’s the latest info on all the hottest styles we spotted at Bridal Market.

We’ll start by catching up on what’s still hot and going strong from recent years. Next, we’ll look at what trends are on fire, bursting on the scene right now. Then, we’ll take a look at some new trends that are heating up in the bridal scene. And, of course, we’ll highlight some fantastic dresses from our collection that showcase a few ways to mix and match these trends to match your ideal aesthetic.

##### **Still Hot: Tested trends that aren’t cooling any time soon**

- **Pearls.** Lustrous and luxurious, pearls are absolutely having their moment. From tiny accents to all-over beading, pearls are showing up everywhere.
- **Bows.** You can’t mistake the feminine energy of a well-placed bow. Bows are beautiful and still holding the spotlight.
- **Two-in-One Looks.** Detachable trains, detachable sleeves, overskirts, layered dresses, standalone under-dresses, and so many more options! Dresses with two (or more!) looks are getting even more creative as this trend keeps sizzling.
- **Clean Lines.** Minimalistic gowns that feature smooth lines, sleek fabrics, and subtle structure are very popular. These gowns are tried, true, and still oh-so-hot.

##### **Fire: Top trends that are blazing bright this season **

- **The Basque Waist.** This trend has been picking up steam and is now absolutely on fire. Whether dramatically deep or demurely dipped, this V-shaped waistline is incredibly popular for its versatility and flattering shape.
- **Brocade/Jacquard.** The textured, full-bodied, richness of fabrics with woven designs are so hot they’re downright molten. From true brocades with raised, embossed designs, to matte-to-gloss woven jacquard, to faux-jacquard printed satin, every and any variation on the theme is featured in gorgeous trend-setting gowns.
- **Colored Florals.**  No shrinking violets here! Colored florals are popping up as accents, as embroidered bodices, and as all-over patters. Tradition with the sweetest little edge of rebellion is just too hot to resist.
- **Strapless/Off-Shoulder.** Strapless gowns and gowns with off-shoulder sleeves/detailing are back! Spaghetti straps have stepped back just a little bit, letting the unadorned shoulders have the spotlight.
- **Ivory.** Light and bright, this color is white-hot. This flattering shade is back out in front after being overshadowed by champagne and blush.

##### **Heating Up: New trends on the rise **

- **Trumpet/Mermaid.** The sheath or column dress has dominated the silhouette scene, but the curvy trumpet and mermaid gowns are surfacing with new takes on fitting and flaring.
- **Big Ball Gowns. **Ball gowns are filling out and getting poufy! From layered tulle to oversized full brocade skirts, ball gowns are taking up more space and making bigger statements than ever.
- **All-Over Chantilly Lace.**  Grandma would be proud; these lace dresses embrace detailed vintage lace to the max. Millie Bobby Brown Bongiovi brought this trend into the spotlight with her incredible lace wedding gown.

Here are a few designs from The White Dress’s collection that combine the hottest trends in to haute gowns!

##### **Clean Lines and a Big Bow: Betty is a trailblazer**

![Betty bridal gown](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/betty.png)

Sleek bodice, simple lines, check! [Betty](https://allurebridals.com/dresses/allure-bridals-dresses/a1311/?searchid=1461056) features a striking Mikado bodice with slightly scooped neckline. Subtle structure, check! We adore the way this structured bodice ends in a basque waist before blossoming into a full tulle skirt. Graceful silhouette, check! This dress is finished off by a sweeping chapel train adorned with a perfect row of fabric covered buttons. Need one final trend to top it off? Betty has a perfect statement bow at the end of the corset-laced bodice, adding a touch of whimsy to this clean, clear, minimalistic dream dress.

##### **Basque Waist and Big Ballgown: Edwina is a showstopper**

![edwina](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/edwina.png)

Perfectly poufy, this fantastically layered tulle and lace ballgown takes our breath away. This Allure Romance dress has a Basque waist of the demure dip variety, lengthening the lines of the bodice just enough to highlight the perfect sweetheart neckline. Lace applique adds texture, interest, and an extra dash of romance to the bodice. [Edwina](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/edwina/) is no wallflower, this dress takes center stage, all pouf and poise.

##### **Colored Florals and Off-shoulder: Phoebe Jane is a phenomenon**

![phoebe jane dress](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/p-jane.png)

Flowing organza with a delicate, colored floral print is perfectly idyllic on this Lis Simon gown. The off-shoulder sleeves add a romantic sensibility to this design taking it from sweet to singular. (Bonus: the sleeves are removable for a 2-in-1 look!) The simplicity of natural waistline and gently dipped neckline add to the subtle appeal and you-have-to-look-again appeal of this gown. Never underestimate [Phobe Jane](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/phoebe-jane/), this is a dress that will have the last word in trending gowns and classic bridal fashion.

##### **Brocade and Strapless: Nikola is a trendsetter**

![nikola dress](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/nikola.png)

If texture is the name of the game, [Nikola](https://the-white-dress.com/dress/nikola/) is playing to win. This Allure Bridal dress boasts a raised floral pattern in champagne on ivory that is instantly eye-catching, and the draping of this rich fabric is lush and attention-holding. The pointed sweetheart neckline of the wrapped bodice is flattering and the folds of the skirt falling away from natural waistline draw attention to the daring thigh-high slit. (Don’t worry, this can be tacked to a lower level to suite each bride’s individual preferences!) This dress leads the dancing from the center of the floor, Nikola is a vision of confidence and charm.

##### **Allover Lace and Trumpet: Bonnie is a new standard**

![Bonnie dress](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Bonnie.png)

This incredible Allure Bridals creation is a glorious trumpet with a subtle, scooped neckline, delicate straps, and covered all over in Alencon lace. The lace overlay gives a vintage nod to this red-carpet worthy design. From the structured bodice to the fitted hips to the sweeping skirt that pools behind the bride in a chapel train, [Bonnie](https://allurebridals.com/dresses/allure-bridals-dresses/a1316/?searchid=1461052) takes the trends and transforms them into an absolute classic. This dress all comes together in perfect harmony, elevating the standard for trend-forward gowns.

![Next Steps](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/twd-dress-rack-bg.avif)

### Next Steps

Congratulations (again!) on saying YES to the dress!  So you may be wondering, what now?  Well, the next thing to start thinking about when it comes to the dress is alterations.  But first, here is a general timeline for your wedding dress:

#### Wedding Dress Timeline

1. Say YES!  TWD orders your dress.  (Or if you purchased a dress off the rack, we will store your dress for you until it is through our review and ready for pick up.)
2. Then it’s a waiting game.  Most of our dresses will take about 6-7 months to arrive in shop.  However, some do arrive earlier than that.  (Keep in mind that if you are a bride who had a quick wedding date and we gave you an ETA on your dress, then that is when to expect it!  Please don’t panic!)
3. While waiting, research and book alterations. (Lots more info on that below.)
4. We will text you when your dress is here!  Then we will send you an email with lots of information on what to do next.
5. Most brides then schedule a time to come in and try on their dress at the shop.
6. At that point, you can take your dress with you or leave it here for storage.  (We offer complimentary storage of your wedding dress for 45 days or you can pay for additional storage through our [cost-effective packages](https://the-white-dress.com/the-finishing-touch-packages/).)
7. If you opt for additional storage (or if your alterations date is within your 45 day window), pick up dress for alterations appointments.  (Please schedule your pick up at TWD ahead of time.)
8. Go to fittings as prepared as possible.  Again, read below!
9. At final fitting, determine where your dress will go from there – if you have opted for [additional storage](https://the-white-dress.com/the-finishing-touch-packages/) at TWD, please schedule your drop off.
10. If you have decided to keep your dress with you, please think and plan for a final press/steam, so your dress is wedding day ready!  (Remember if you need a final touch up, we do offer that service and also have [cost-effective packages](https://the-white-dress.com/the-finishing-touch-packages/) that include this service.)
11. If you have opted for storage at TWD after the fitting, don’t forget to schedule the pick up date.  Most brides pick up their dress a few days before the wedding day.  Because it will be freshly pressed/steamed, you may want to think about logistics.  Many brides plan to take their dress right from TWD, direct to where they plan to be getting ready on the wedding day, depending on if they have access to that place in the days leading up to the day.
12. Pick up dress!
13. Get married!

#### Tips for Alterations

- You will need your shoes for your fitting!
- You will want to bring any undergarments you plan (or are considering) wearing under your dress.
- Most wedding dresses require about 3 fittings to achieve a perfect fit.
- All seamstresses have their own timeline for when it makes sense to set up fittings.  In general, the ideal timeline starts about 12-15 weeks from your wedding day and ends with a final fitting about 2-3 weeks from your big day.
- Be sure to go over any and all changes you plan to make to your dress during your first fitting so your seamstress can plan to get the things done in a manner that makes sense.
- Remember that the pricing of your alterations will likely depend on the complexity of the gown – things like beading, lace, and number of layers of the hem.  Most alterations range from $600-$1,000, but can certainly go up in cost, depending on what needs to be done or if there are customizations.

All TWD brides are eligible to take advantage of our storage options and final press/steam of their gown, regardless of where alterations take place. We have [3 tiers of packages](https://the-white-dress.com/the-finishing-touch-packages/) available for purchase that all include long term storage through the wedding day and final press/steam of their wedding dress.  With all packages, please note that we need to be kept in the loop by scheduling all drop offs and pick ups ahead of time.

![Kristy](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Group-738.avif)

##### Kristy

Owner & Founder

> “Seeing the dresses come to life and be loved by another is so rewarding. And making their dream dress a reality is the best!”

Kristy has been dreaming of wedding dresses since she was a little girl. Never once did she think she would be lucky enough to be surrounded by their beauty on a daily basis. But after lots of hard work, and a little bit of fate, her dream came true when she opened up The White Dress in 2011. Though she loves all aspects of running her boutique, her favorite part is meeting the brides.

Kristy’s loves outside of weddings? Puppies, (vegan) chocolate, and all things pink!

![Marissa](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Group-739.avif)

##### Marissa

Shop Manager + Office Admin + Social Media

> “I love seeing the brides in all the dresses, especially when they have the dress on – they just glow!”

Marissa is one of the friendly gals that makes up our team and has worked at The White Dress since 2012. She wears many hats here at TWD, and is meticulous not only when it comes to keeping the boutique looking its best, but also keeping things organized behind the scenes as well. Marissa is also a dance teacher and spends time each week working with young dancers.

Outside of all of this, Marissa spends any remaining spare time with family! In fact, Marissa, along with her husband and two kids, keep a travel vlog where they travel to amusement parks across the USA!

![Annie](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/twd-annie-1.avif)

##### Annie

Shop Manager + Bridal Stylist

If you are looking for someone who was born to be in the bridal industry (really!), then Annie is your gal! Annie joined the TWD team in 2014, but has been part of the bridal world since she was a little girl when her mother owned a local bridal boutique. She learned at a very young age all the ins and outs of wedding dresses, the various customizations that can be done, and most importantly, just how very special being a bride actually is! Annie is the perfect gal to guide you on your wedding dress journey – she has a vast knowledge of dress silhouettes, fabric types, and is oftentimes using that knowledge to pull the perfect dress for her brides.

Her interests outside of TWD include dance, crafting, and hanging out with her husband and three kiddos.

![Brittany](https://the-white-dress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/twd-brittany.avif)

##### Brittany

Bridal Stylist + Assistant Manager

> “I love working with brides to help them find their perfect dress. Besides the added bonus that we get to hear so many love stories on a daily basis, working with brides and helping their vision come to life is the absolute best!”

Another friendly face you’ll find at TWD is Brittany! She’s been on the team since January 2021 and we know you’ll love her positive, bubbly personality! Brittany has a passion for working with brides and she really knows how to hone in on what her brides are looking for, all the while giving them the fun-filled experience our brides expect. Some of Brittany’s favorite things to do outside of work are baking, crafting, and traveling as much as possible. She also relishes time spent with her husband and two kids, along with their dog,...

### request your visit

We are so excited to meet you!

#### What kind of appointment do you need?

##### Bridal Appointment

This is the most common type of appointment, where you’ll be trying on wedding dresses to find your perfect dress!  In this type of appointment, you’ll be trying on a LOT of dresses!  We always encourage our brides to remember to bring all your VIPs (people you *must* have with you when/if you find “the one”) to this type of appointment because you just never know when you’ll find your perfect dress!  And because we live for this special moment for all of our brides, we want to ensure that your magical moment is truly special – it’s impossible to recreate that feeling!  (And of course, our standard celebratory details will ensue after you’ve said yes!)

Please note that if you are planning your bridal appointment for a Saturday, a credit card is required to hold your spot.

*Standard bridal appointments are available any time and day of the week at TWD and typically last about 90 minutes.*

---

##### Celebration Bridal Appointment

This type of appointment is perfect for you if you are ready to say yes to the dress and proceed with the order!  This is perfect for a bride who has already visited TWD (but just couldn’t decide!) and has narrowed down her options.  We’ll cap this appointment off with celebratory drink, lots of pictures with our “I Said Yes!” sign, and by giving you all the deets on your order!

Celebration bridal appointments are available any time and day of the week at TWD and typically last 60 minutes.

---

##### Private Bridal Appointment

Looking to have the boutique all to yourself?  Then, this could be perfect for you.  We started offering a private appointment post-Quarantine to give our brides the opportunity to have a larger group visit the store than is typically allowed.  So, if you want to include a whole entourage of loved ones with you, this could be a great option!  The fee for this appointment is $150 and includes:

- A phone pre-consultation with one of the TWD-ettes
- Celebratory drink when the bride says yes!
- Just like every appointment here, undivided attention from your stylist
- Complimentary charcuterie board from our neighbors down the street, Culture Beer + Cheese
- $150 credit if you find the one!
- 2 hour time frame
- Up to 10 guests

Private bridal consultations are available Tuesday through Friday and the non-refundable fee is paid upon booking.  Time slots are limited so advanced planning is important!

---

##### “I Said Yes in Stars Hollow” Bridal Appointment

If you have not yet heard of the BIG event that takes place near the end of September in Downtown Brighton, called Destination Stars Hollow, it is where we transform our little town to the idyllic town of Stars Hollow from the hugely poplar TV series, Gilmore Girls.  During this weekend long festival, we actually are not able to take on bridal appointments and still give a proper TWD experience but we invite any fans of the show to make mention of this type of appointment when booking any other time of the year so we can give you a little Stars Hollow flair!  If you want to make it extra special, we offer a Gilmore Girls swag bag as an appointment upgrade for a small fee.  We can discuss details upon booking!

---

##### Consultation Bridal Appointment

This appointment is new to TWD, and we are excited to offer an option for brides who are still in exploratory mode!  This appointment type is available Tuesday – Friday and lasts just 45 minutes.  In this shortened timeframe, we will get to know you and your wedding dress vision and get you in a few dresses to see how you feel.  Our goal is to give you a better vision for what your wedding dress will be in terms of fit and style so you can come back with confidence with the rest of your gang to say yes to the dress!

---

##### Bridal Accessory Appointment

Have your dress all picked out but need to finish off your look?  This is your appointment!  We absolutely love to accessorize at TWD – and there is so much you can play around with – detachable trains, veils, all sorts of jewelry and headpieces, belts and sashes, and more!  Many of these items need to be ordered so it’s best to book this about 6 months prior to your big day!

*Accessory appointments last 60 minutes and are available any time of the day, Tuesday through Friday.*

---

##### Bridesmaid Appointment

Ready to continue the dress party for your girls?  This one is for you!  We carry a dedicated collection of bridesmaid dresses that are available in a variety of colors and sizes, perfect for creating your bridal party look.  Whether that is everyone in the same dress, or everyone in a different style, we are ready to make your vision a thing!  Our stylists will help guide you through the appointment – they know the best approach to trying on bridesmaid dresses, depending on what your goal is.  Our bridesmaid dresses range in price from $230 – $350 (don’t forget to ask about our group discount!)

*Bridesmaid Appointments last 90 minutes and are available any time of the day, Tuesday through Friday.*

---

##### Other Appointment

None of the other appointments sound right?  Choose this option and we’ll help guide you when we officially book your visit!

###### A friendly The White Dress Bridal Style Expert will contact you shortly to schedule your appointment and confirm with you.  Easy, peasy.

### dress shopping tips

Finding your dream dress is a moment you’ll remember forever — and we want to make sure it’s nothing short of magical. From what to bring to your appointment to how to know when you’ve found the one, here are our best tips straight from our stylists.

#### 10 things you must know and do before you buy your wedding gown

The quest for your wedding gown can be one of the most exciting and fun-filled parts of planning for your wedding. Your gown will set the tone for your entire wedding and there are few other times where you will be so lavishly pampered as you are magically transformed into a beautiful bride before your very eyes. But before you buy your wedding gown, here are ten things that you need to know and do.

##### #1: Get a clear picture of what you want your wedding to look like in your mind.

Close your eyes and envision yourself as a bride. What do you see? Are you going to be walking down an aisle, getting married outside or uttering your vows by the soft glow of candlelight? Will you be wearing a full ball gown with your hair up and a long flowing veil? Or are you dressed in a flowing, romantic gown that accentuates your femininity? Write down six adjectives that best describe how you want to look and feel on your wedding day. For example, you may write words such as: traditional, romantic, princess like, lavish, minimalist, sexy, sophisticated, etc.

##### #2: Try on the different silhouettes of gowns to find out what looks best on your figure.

All wedding gowns fall under four basic silhouettes. These are: the ball gown (the most traditional of the categories, has a full bodice and waistline that leads to a very full skirt), the empire (has a high waistline which falls to a slimmer skirt), the A-line or princess (features vertical seams flowing from the shoulders down to an A-shaped flared skirt) and the sheath (closely follows the line of the body). An experienced bridal consultant can point out the features of how you look in each. You should let her know what you like about each style as well.

##### #3: Select the color and fabric of your gown.

The same dress style can look and feel quite different in a different color or fabric. Even though white has traditionally been the color of most gowns, more and more gowns are being designed with color in the details. You may want to consider an off white, ivory or blush/champagne color as a way to enhance your complexion. Choose a color and fabric that best reflects the mood you are trying to create at your wedding. When choosing the fabric, keep in mind that it will be the basis for the overall look and feel of your gown and will influence cost more than any other single thing. Textured material and overlays such as chiffon, tulle, and organza can also be used to create a special look for you.

##### #4: Determine what features you want on your gown.

These features include the type of neckline, waistline, train, beadwork or lace on the bodice and skirt, and other decorations or embellishments. Once you have determined which silhouette, color and fabric you like best, determine if the gown will have sleeves, straps or if you prefer strapless. You will want to try on a variety of gowns to help you find what you like best as you bring “the perfect gown” into closer focus.

##### #5: Accept help from knowledgeable and professional bridal consultants.

A good bridal consultant will ask lots of questions to get more clarity about your special day. They will want to be helpful to you and may have some recommendations for you. An expert consultant has seen gowns on many women in various shapes and sizes and will be able to recommend a dress that will look great on your body. Let an expert’s opinion guide you to considering some shapes or styles you might never have imagined wearing. However, your consultant should make you feel comfortable and free to express your own opinion. From the moment you enter the salon, be mindful of the way you’re being treated and of the way the salespeople make you feel. Do they treat you with respect? This is your special day and you deserve help that makes you feel comfortable and happy.

##### #6: Be aware of traditions or religious guidelines that may influence how your gown should look.

Different pastors, clergy or officiants of weddings in various religious and/or ethnic backgrounds require that your head, legs or shoulders be covered. It is best to check with your ceremony officiant to find out if he/she has any guidelines that may need to be considered before you buy your gown. This will prevent embarrassment on the part of you and your guests.

##### #7: Bring along someone whose opinion you trust and respect to help you in your search.

This person could be your mother, sister, bridesmaid, honor attendant, a close friend or another relative. An extra set of eyes can be helpful, but limit the number of people who come with you. Too many opinions will likely confuse you and lead to a frustrating experience. Such feedback can be invaluable. But, remember, it is your wedding, so you should make the final decision after careful consideration of your choices.

##### #8: Make your decision.

Making your final decision doesn’t have to be stressful. You have your mother or friend and your consultant to help you. Be sure to give yourself a chance to look at several options before you buy. Trust your own instincts. You have likely been visualizing this day for some time. Ask yourself these three questions of the final dresses that you are seriously considering: 1) Which dress do I feel the prettiest in?; 2) Which dress accentuates my best feature?; and 3) Which dress most fits my personality or style? Try on each gown and go through this process until you have eliminated all of the dresses to the final one. Once you’ve found a gown that is everything you’ve imagined, smile and relax – you’ve done it!

##### #9: Have your dress altered to match your exact figure.

Once you have your gown, find a professional seamstress, who is an expert at altering wedding gowns, to help you make the final alterations that will help your dress fit perfectly. Many bridal stores will have their own seamstress on site to help you. This process usually involves an initial fitting and one to two more alteration appointments. Following these fitting appointments, your dress will be pressed. You may want to wait until a few days before your wedding before you pick it up.

##### #10: Look for the final touches that will help you complete your gown and make your wedding day special.

Once you’ve found your gown, look for matching elements such as veils, shoes, and gloves that will make your transformation into a new bride complete. You may want to ask your bridal consultant for suggestions for these final touches.

### Accessories 101

While we know there are SO MANY options for accessorizing your bridal look, we have learned a thing or two over the years when it comes to styling your look for the big day!  One of the most common misconceptions about buying accessories at a bridal shop?  That everything is over-priced!  That’s just not true and we get so many comments about how reasonably priced our accessories are.  (We offer jewelry starting at $20 and veils starting at $70.)

We strongly encourage our brides who are looking for accessories to book an appointment!  Why not come back and try on THE dress again (our sample) and try out all the options with a fresh mind?  Besides the fact that it is just SO FUN to be back in the dress, **if you are visual people like we are, we value being IN the dress and actually seeing the entire look together**.  Feel free to bring in any accessories that you may already have and test it out with the dress!

#### Accessories Facts:

- **Lead time:** This can vary depending on a number of factors.  We usually suggest allowing 3 months for any accessories to arrive to the shop.
- **When to shop? ** After you’ve found the one, before it comes in!  Come in on a calm day with a fresh mind and explore the options.
- **What options do you have?**  SO many.  Veils, jewelry, hair accessories, gloves, overskirts, detachable trains, bows, capes/streamers, faux-fur shawls, lace jackets, robes, detachable sleeves, belts, sashes…and more!
- **Veil price points:**  Our average non-cathedral veil price is $200 and the very long cathedrals can vary from $150 to $900.
- **Veil customizations?**  Usually, yes!  Our veils designers are in the USA so there is usually a way to meet your vision exactly.
- **Steaming/pressing:** Of course this is included in the prices of our accessories!  No extra charge for this.
- **Do you steam/press outside veils?**  We do, for a fee, which is based on the length.  Please note that while we do our best to get all the wrinkles out, we have found that with veils with lower quality fabrics, it can be quite difficult to make it completely smooth and wrinkle-free.

Any other questions – just give us a call or text: 810-588-6147.  And… [book your appointment today](https://the-white-dress.com/schedule-appointment)!

From having a budget, to deciding who to bring, to flattering fits, we'll teach you the two rules of wedding dress selection. Learn more about choosing the right dress, download our guide below!

#### We're here to help!

Your appointment should feel exciting, not overwhelming. We’ve got answers to our most common questions so you can arrive feeling confident, relaxed, and ready to fall in love.

[See more common questions](/faqs)

Yes – you can still shop at The White Dress! We use a pretty conservative estimate when giving a timeline; however many of our designers have dresses ready to ship or can provide a rush order to have a dress arrive in a much shorter time frame.  So don’t worry.  We can definitely make your dream dress happen!  Oh, and from time to time, we have sample wedding dresses and extra stock that are ready to go that day!  {Please note that if you are working with a shorter time period, you will likely have a more limited selection from which to choose.}

That depends!  For during the week appointments, we recommend calling at least 1-2 weeks in advance to book your visit.  Please note however, that if you are planning on a Saturday visit, it is best to book that at least 3-4 weeks in advance as that is our most desired day.  Also, we do often have a cancellation list for Saturday appointments.  This is an option if we are booked for the day and time you are hoping for.

There are several different ways to answer these questions, largely dependent upon your bridesmaid dress selection and personal preference for how you want to handle getting the dresses to your girls.  But, first thing first, right?

- Once you decide on a dress (or dresses!) for your girls, the next step is to get their measurements.  If they are able to make it to The White Dress to be measured, we prefer to measure each girl, to ensure accurate measurements.  But, if they are out of town, we only ask that they go to an experienced seamstress.  Once they have those measurements, they can submit those via our [Bridesmaid Measurements Portal](https://the-white-dress.com/contact/bridesmaid-measurements/) and we will walk them through the rest of the process to determine size and pay their deposit.
- Bridesmaids are welcome to pay their invoice online – we will send them a payment link.  Or payments can be made by giving us credit card information over the phone.
- And when your dresses arrive, there are lots of options for getting the dresses to your maids.  We can ship the dresses to your girls (though we do charge a$20 shipping fee for that service).  But what happens most often is that the bride picks up her bridesmaid’s dresses and arranges to deliver them to her girls (especially since there are lots of opportunities to do that with the bridal showers, bachelorette parties, and other fun wedding related activities around the time most bridesmaid dresses arrive).

We have an official “flower girl” collection, but not a junior bridesmaid collection.

Price points vary widely by designer line, but flower girl dresses generally start at $140 and can go on up to $350.

The ordering time for these dresses also vary widely.  Some take up to 6 months; while some are available within a month.  Please inquire if you have specific timing needs or budget guidelines.

In a word, no.  Instead, we have a great list of recommended seamstresses that many of our brides use for their gowns, one of which is located right in Brighton within a 3 minute drive from our shop.  Also keep in mind that many of our brides who live far away tend to get alterations done closer to home.  If you have any specific questions about alterations, please let us know!  We have seen a LOT over the years and know our fair share about how wedding dresses get altered!
